Diploma Supplement Hints for filling in – university colleges of teacher education The template in German language for the Diploma Supplement is a specimen. Contents and sequence of the eight items (and enumeration) have been determined by the European Working Group and have in any case to be observed in order to guarantee the comparability within the European Higher Education Area. Adaptations of the template are admissible solely with regard to its phenotype (frame, font size, ...). Neither it is admissible to insert further sub-paragraphs, e.g. under section 5. Where certain blocks have not to be filled in out of factual reasons, please do neither delete them, nor let the right column empty, but insert the comment „not applicable“. In addition to the German version, the Diploma Supplement shall be issued in English language, for which a template is available, too. An additional issue in a further language is allowed according to the possibilities of the institution concerned. The indications for the single boxes shall be translated, unless the quotation in German language is explicitly ordered. Hints for filling in the Diploma Supplement (the numbers refer to the numbered detailed points in the Diploma Supplement): ad 1 (Information identifying the holder of the qualification) Complete surname and first name, day, month and year of birth as well as registration number. Previous academic degrees shall be put after the family name, separated by a comma. ad 2 (Information identifying the qualification) 2.1 Academic degree in all original forms according to the Teacher Education Act 2005 (HG) and the Statute of the institution (see CODEX data set). 2.2 Designation of the study programme and a possibly established speciality according to the Statute of the institution (see CODEX data set). 2.3 Name of the institution which has awarded the academic degree, in German language. Please add: „Public university college of teacher education“,„Private university college of teacher education with public accreditation“ or, respectively, „Private study programme with public accreditation“. 2.4 This coincides, as a rule, with 2.3, it has, however, to be mentioned again. 2.5 Language/s in which the courses and examinations have been held. ad 3 (Information on the level of the qualification) 3.1 Kind of diploma and its subsumption in the Austrian educational system (possibly together with explanations and references to the information under item 8), together with the relevant ISCED code. At present, the following indications are possible: bachelor‟s programme, certificate university college programme for further education, programme, certificate programme for further education. The UNESCO ISCED code shall be indicated as follows (for the purpose of a complete overview, the total scale is shown): ISCED 0 Education preceding the first level (pre-primary) ISCED 1 Education at the first level (primary) ISCED 2 Education at the lower secondary level ISCED 3 Education at the upper secondary level ISCED 4 Post secondary, non-tertiary level. Programmes that straddle from an international point of view the borderline between secondary and tertiary education, although the content level is not significantly higher than at the tertiary level. (before 1998 included in ISCED 3 or 5) ISCED 5A Programmes at the tertiary level equivalent to university programmes (bachelor‘s degree, master„s degree, diploma degree, master‘s degree in further education) ISCED 5B ISCED 6 Programmes at the tertiary level that focus on practical, technical or occupational skills for direct entry into the labour market Advanced research programmes at the tertiary level, equivalent to PhD programmes (doctoral degree) 3.2 Legal duration of studies in semesters and required number of ECTS credits according to the Teacher Education Act 2005 and the Statute of the institution. 3.3 Admission requirements for the study programme which is described by the present Diploma Supplement, together with explanations, e.g. secondary school leaving examination, university entrance qualification examination, completion of a bachelor‟s programme, master‟s programme or diploma programme, completion of a university of applied sciences degree programme, additional admission examination. ad 4 (Information on the contents and results gained) 4.1 Modality in which the study programme hat been carried out, e.g. full-time, part-time or distance study. 4.2 – Summary of the qualification profile for the given study programme; – Survey on the structure of the study programme, including learning outcomes; – Details on the minimum requirements for the acquisition of the diploma, e.g. study-related examinations system, professional practical training (extent), duty to pass all single examinations at the same date, provisions for the Bachelor thesis. Please do not insert a web link to the curriculum, because these indications are often changing and can therefore not be clear-cut retraced in future. 4.3 The German version shall be attached by a "Abschrift der Studiendaten" and the English version by a "Transcript of records" according to the template of the ECTS Users‟ Guide. This attachment shall be recorded in box 4.3 (“See attached Transcript of records.”). 4.4 The purpose of this item is information on the Austrian grading scale. Also the grades according to the ECTS grading scale can be added. This grading scale is based on a combined application of the ECTS grade, the percentage of students who obtain as a rule this grade, and a definition of the assessment (see ECTS Users‟ Guide). The Transcript of records must in any case contain all points of the template. 4.5 Indication: “not applicable within this curriculum“. ad 5 (Information on the function of the qualification) 5.1 Basic title for access to further academic or profession-oriented study programmes, in particular such ending up with certain qualifications or academic levels, e.g. to master‟s programmes. There should be indicated whether the diploma in question is a final one or only one step within a hierarchy of diplomas. 5.2 Basic title for access to academic professions with regard to professional law, in any case as a teacher for …. (please insert appropriate indication); diploma in the meaning of the Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications, 2005/36/EC. ad 6 (Additional information) 6.1 Information which has not been given under the items above, which is, however, of relevance for the assessment of the diploma, e.g. passing parts of the study in foreign countries/higher education institutions, practical training, title of Bachelor thesis, unless cited in the transcript of records; if not: „not applicable within this curriculum“. 6.2 Useful information on further details of the diploma, e.g. website of the university, National Information Centre (ENIC NARIC AUSTRIA – www.naric.at), European network of the National Information Centres for academic recognition (Council of Europe/UNESCO – www.enic-naric.net). ad 7 (Certification of the supplement) 7.1 The date of issue need not necessarily correspond with the date of the completion of the degree or, respectively, the award of the academic degree. Nevertheless, in order to avoid further enquiries, it should, if possible, be sought that the notice of award and the Diploma Supplement show dates which are close together. 7.2 Name and signature of that person who authentifies the document. 7.3 Official function of the person in charge of authentification, e.g. vice rector, head of institute, head of admission department. 7.4 Official stamp or seal of the institution which issues the Diploma Supplement. ad 8 (Information on the Austrian higher education system) Please copy the full text out of the pattern of ENIC NARIC AUSTRIA, add it immediately here and do not replace it by the link.
