Veterans Day originally honored the military personnel who
served in WWI. Currently the holiday celebrates the contributions of all living U.S. veterans, of whom there are over 20 million. Learn about the significance of this holiday and the issues

Hard Times Writing Workshop

Brexit: What Does the Future Hold for the UK and
the European Union?

On June 23, British voters elected to exit the European Union,
sending global stock markets sharply down and provoking global
reactions running the gamut from horror to congratulations.
We’ll place this pivotal event in its historic context and explore
where this high stakes path may lead, not only for the UK, but
also the EU and the rest of the world.

Jack Maness will discuss his trilogy of historical novels, inspired
by the lives of his great-great grandparents. They are thoroughly
researched stories of loyalty and betrayal, courage and despair.
Song of the Jayhawk won the 2015 Colorado Book Award for
Historical Fiction, and his second book, Where Waters Converge,
was released in March. The final book in the trilogy, Cover Thy
Sun, O God, is slated for publication in November 2017. Books
will be available for sale and signing.

The political leadership of South America’s largest country has
been plunged into turmoil with the recent impeachment of the
country’s first female President Dilma Rousseff on charges of
corruption. Also implicated is her predecessor and architect of
Brazil’s recent political and economic evolution Luiz Inácio Lula
da Silva (“Lula”). We’ll explore Brazil’s emergence as a young democracy with a growing economy and how these developments
may influence its future. This program is brought to you by the
Stapleton Master Community Association.

the presidential election cycle in full swing and the future of

confirmations in order to better understand the intricacies of the

and a falcon–all species that are found here in Colorado.
