In this Homework Journal you will be completing activities to earn points - points mean prizes! Each week, you have to choose one activity from the boxes below. You work hard at home and then reveal your beautifully presented piece of homework to your teacher by Friday. It will then be checked to see if the standard is worth the points! At the end of the half term, there will be a class presentation for the top 5 highest scorers. GOOD LUCK! 2 POINTS • Collect images of an object that has changed through time—e.g. the telephone. • Create a timeline of your own life. • Draw/paint a picture of a scene from Norman/Anglo-Saxon or Viking life - annotate it with labels. • Name a Roman Emperor or other leader and write 5 interesting facts about them. 5 POINTS • • • • • Create a family tree, • Create a poster advertising our Time Tunnel museum. Write a short newspaper report announcing an important event of the last 100 years think carefully about the style of writing, Write a diary entry from a British monarch (King or Queen) about an important event during their reign. Dress up as a film/pop star from the past —have your photo taken and research some biographical information, Design a costume to be worn by a character in a play set in the 1950s/60s/70s etc. Create a timeline for the history of another country e.g. USA or Australia. 8 POINTS • • • • • Make a 3D model of an item that pre-dates 1066—one that could’ve been discovered in an archeological dig. Research rationing during WWII—create a weekly menu for a family of four. Remember you would also be growing your own’ food Design a job advert for someone to work as a servant in a Roman Villa. Research imperial measures or pre-decimal money. Design a maths worksheet about them. How do they compare to our modern systems? Imagine you are a soldier in WWI or WWII, write a long letter home to family—research their experience carefully. 10 POINTS • • • • • Write a news report on a historical battle or invasion of your choice. You could film yourself on location! Get someone to pretend they are an important figure from, the past (or you could be this person), conduct an interview. Write out the questions and answers or even video it—costumes encouraged! Write a story where a the lead character travels back in time—present it as a ‘proper book’. Research and learn a song or dance from the past 100 years - the 1960s would be a good place to look! Make a 3D model of a Victorian invention. You can create your own ideas for projects - please discuss these with your teacher to decide on how many points they are worth!
