ROOTS
The two most important ways to build vocabulary are
through extensive reading and learning prefixes, suffixes,
and roots. Learning word parts builds your vocabulary,
improves your spelling, and improves your reading of
multi-syllabic words. In this manual you will learn
common Latin roots. A “root” is the basic portion of a
word that carries a “meaning.” This manual is divided into
sets, each containing eight Latin roots.
By just mastering these roots, you will increase your
vocabulary by 16,000 words. A strong vocabulary is
necessary for success in school.
