It can be used in environment with very high humidity or even cracks filled with water. The long pot-life is feasible in higher temperatures or when a long time of application is required. STORAGE The components should be stored in a dry place in closed packages. Shelf life is minimum 12 months when unopened and stored correctly. PRE-TREATMENT OF SUBSTRATE Before any repair work is carried out, an investigation should be made to establish if the repair is feasible. Samples should be taken from the concrete structure to ascertain the quality of the concrete, and to determine the depth and width of the cracks. To prepare the concrete for injection, cut all surface cracks of major significance with a “V” notch rotary cutter to a depth of 6 mm and width 6-mm. Clean dust and loose particles with dry compressed air. Seal the “V” notched cracks with a thixotropic putty (weber Epoxy Putty). At the same time, insert 6-10 mm copper pipes or injection along the cracks at intervals of 1½ times the thickness of the concrete. MIXING Resin and hardener must be thoroughly mixed before use. Recommended temperature on the components before mixing is min. 15oC. APPLICATION After the sealing composition has cured sufficiently, i. e. over night, the injection can be carried out using pressure equipment capable of operation at pressures up to 2 MPa. This equipment can range from a simple hand operated gun to a metering, mixing, and dispensing machine. The pressure pump may be fitted with a pressure release valve (for example set at approximately 0,7 MPa) feeding back into the reservoir. In order to ensure that the maximum degree of penetration is achieved the injection sequence for any one joint or crack should commence with the floor, followed by the walls and then the ceiling. Always work from the lowest position and upwards. The epoxy is injected under pressure in one pipe until the material emerges from the adjacent pipe. The first injection point is then sealed and the injection equipment transferred to the next pipe, and so the operation is repeated until the entire area has been sealed in one operation. Test cores may be taken to establish the depth of penetration of the epoxy. If the cores show that at minimum of 90 % of the crack volume has been penetrated, the repair is considered satisfactory. Vibration test meters have been used to assess the effectiveness of the repair. Using a jack-hammer as a vibratory source it has been found that on cracked concrete a variety of readings are obtained depending upon the siting of the vibratory source and the vibration meter, whereas after a satisfactory injection repair operation constant readings are obtained. AFTER-TREATEMENT Tools must be cleaned with a suitable solvent, e. g. xylene, acetone, ethanol etc. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Hazardous – contains highly alkaline binder.
