Mickey C. Cox Elementary School • 2191 East Sierra • Clovis, California 93611
While new to her position, Amanda Torres
is not new to Mickey Cox. For the past 7
years, she has called Mickey Cox home, in
Room 18, with her fifth and sixth grade classes. This year, she has moved out of the classroom and into the office; joining our administration team as Mickey Cox’s Sr. Resource
Teacher. Mrs. Torres is married to her husband Rey and has 6 kids at home; Justin, Julia;
a Sr. at Clovis West, Jacob; a fifth grader at
Mountain View, three year old twins; Trinity
and Zander, and 6 month old Atticus. While
she has loved every single moment of her 10
years as a teacher, she is beyond excited to
jump in to her new role and continue helping to
make a difference in the lives here on the Cowboy campus!

I recently joined the nursing team at Clovis Unified
School District in March of this year. Prior to this, I spent
10 years as an emergency/trauma nurse at CRMC. I specialized in pediatric trauma and emergency care. I am excited to join the world of education! It is my goal to help
our students at Mickey Cox make healthy and safe decisions so they can be their best in mind, body and soul.
My husband and I have two boys that keep us very
busy. As a family we enjoy snow skiing, water skiing, bicycle riding, swimming, and traveling. We love camping
and I am learning to tolerate fishing.
As a young person I was involved in many academic
events including science competitions, debate, and leadership. I played volleyball, water polo and I was a swimmer.
I graduated from Fresno State twice, once with a degree in
psychology and once with a degree in nursing. I am really
looking forward to the year ahead and being a part of the
Mickey Cox team!

Hello Mickey Cox Cowboys! My name is
Keri Machado and I am your School Psychologist.
I am so excited to be part of such an amazing family of staff, parents and students. I want to thank
everyone for the warm welcome. I have been a
School Psychologist for 12 years. I do come new
to Clovis Unified this year as your School Psychologist, however I am not new to the district or
the community. I was born and raised in Clovis
and continue to reside in Clovis with my family.
As a child I attended Cole Elementary School, became a Clark Chieftain in middle school, and then
graduated as a proud Cougar from Clovis High
School. I then attended California State University, Fresno where I obtained both my undergraduate
and graduate degrees. I am a proud mother of three amazing children, all of whom attend Clovis schools.
Michael, my son, (16 years old) attends Clovis High School, Peyton, my daughter, (12 years old) attends
Clark Intermediate, and Ryan, my youngest son (8 years old) attends Cedarwood Elementary School. I am
also married to a wonderful husband who attended Clovis Unified schools growing up and currently works
in the Clovis community as a Physical Therapist. My husband and I take pride in our community and the
school district. I am so happy to be back at home working in a district that I not only consider “THE BEST”
but also a district that I and my family are personally invested in. I am looking forward to a great school
year!
Congratulations to Mr. Filippi for being one of
the top 25 teachers (grades 4-8) whose students had
the most growth from 2015-2016!
Congratulations
to our Mickey Cox second grade
team for being number one in the district in last year’s
end of year district testing.

Dear Parents and Students,
Thank you for contributing to the success of our 2016 Jog-a-thon! Together
we raised $14,966.90, exceeding our school goal of $12,500, for the first time in
many years! This money will go to support the many wonderful things that happen
on our campus. We appreciate all you do to support our students and staff to make
our school community such a fantastic place! Prizes for students will be coming
out in the next couple of weeks. Again, thank you and have a great year on the
Cowboy campus!
