Introduce the topic of French. Can children remember any
French from what they have learnt previously?
Show powerpoint of numbers to 20. Children to repeat the
numbers after the adult in French.

Lesson 1
LO & STS
To count from 1 to 20 in French.
Refer to the powerpoint again. Children to have a game of
round the world. Adult to say a number in French and children
have to say the number in English.
Children to create own bingo sheet with numbers on it. With
powerpoint still on the smartboard as a guide. Teacher to
read out numbers in French, children to circle the numbers
they think they are in order to win.
Children then to write the French numbers next to the

Lesson 2

LO: To count in 10’s in French
corresponding number.
Re-cap on last weeks learning. Can children remember any
French numbers?
Show last week’s youtube clip to re-cap counting up to 20.
Introduce counting in 10’s this week. Do children know what
the first 2 numbers are going to be?

Children to say repeat words from video to become familiar
with terminology.
Children, using word mats on their table to help them if
needed to match the numbers to French terminology.
Plenary:
Round the world game to embed learning.
Re-cap on numbers. Quick game of round the world on
numbers 1-20.

To greet someone in French Do children know how to say hello in French?

Go through powerpoint. Ask children to repeat some of the
French words that we have learnt from last week.
Children then to complete a table of French greetings
matched with the English ones.
Children to use these words as a template for the discussions
they are going to create next week.
Lesson 4

To have a conversation in
French
Children then to go round the room greeting eachother in
French.
Re-cap on some of the greetings we learnt in French last
week.
Today children are going to apply this knowledge to a
conversation. They are going to write down and perform
conversations in French.
In pairs children are going to pretend they are celebrities.
They have to write down a full conversation in French then
share with the group.
The conversation must include:

What is your name?
My name is… and you?
How are you?

To know the days of the
week in French.
Re-cap on the conversation we did last week.

Today we are going to learn the days of the week. Do the
children know any names of the days of the week?
Go through powerpoint of the days of the week. Children to
listen to the pronunciation of days and repeat back to adult.
Repeat 2/3 times.
Adults say name of days in French children to write the names
of the days in English on whiteboards.
Children then to complete worksheet.

Re- cap on days of the week.
Re-cap on months of the year in English. Do children know
the names of them all in English.
