MEADOW STREET Newsletter Date: June 2010 Volume 1, Issue 6 Third Precinct - Sector 312 June 2010 In this Issue Sector Lieutenant Greeting 1 Great Job! 2 312 “5 Most Wanted” 3 312 Incident Locations 4 312 Crime Statistics 5 Our Neighborhood’s Greetings, During the month of May 2010, violent crime was down 13% and property crime was down 1%. The most significant crime increases for this reporting period in Sector 312 were related to Motor Vehicle Theft (12 stolen automobiles) and All Other Larceny (16 incidents - stolen cell phones, copper, keys, etc.). Motor Vehicle Theft - Six vehicles were taken from apartment complexes and three along the Midlothian Turnpike corridor. Sector 312 officers/detectives are aggressively working to combat and reduce these incidents of Auto Theft. Officers will be conducting surveillance, maintaining a visible presence and working to apprehend those engaged in criminal activity throughout Sector 312. Officers will be patrolling by foot, bicycle and police vehicle. Please continue to call us if you observe a suspicious situation/ person. We need everyone’s eyes and ears to help reduce crime and apprehend offenders. Remember, you can remain anonymous and suspicious persons will always be treated with dignity and respect by investigating officers. Outstanding work by the below officers in Sector 312 this month! May 1: Search Warrant - 3rd Precinct FMT executed a search warrant at 539 Argyle Terrace (St. John’s Woods Apartments complex) and arrested a 30 YOA male for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Prescription Pills with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of marijuana. The following items were seized a .50 caliber rifle, marijuana and prescription pills. May 1: Drug Arrest - Officers Benjamin Frazer and Blake Letchford went to 6346 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond Inn and Suites. They made contact with two individuals inside room #120, one of them was “wanted” on an outstanding warrant and was placed under arrest. A closer look at the room revealed suspected heroin and marijuana. Both of these individuals were charged with a total of four drug charges and taken to jail. May 5: Search Warrant - 3rd Precinct FMT executed a search warrant at 628 Lambeth Road (St. John’s Woods Apartments complex) and arrested a 27 YOA male for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The following items were seized; .12 gauge shotgun, six grams of marijuana, and miscellaneous packaging material. May 2010: Crime Impact - Third Precinct Officers/Detectives/Sergeants during the month of May aggressively patrolled the St. John’s Wood Apartments by foot, bicycle and police vehicle. Numerous arrests, field interview reports and citizen contacts were made in this complex during this period. The collective effort of all involved led to a dramatic decline in criminal activity in this area. There were no reported Burglaries, Robberies or Felony Assaults during the month of May. This effort was led by Officers Christina Kenney and Harry Brown who coordinated with GSC Management to affect the eviction of over 16 apartments, made personal contact with residents in over 600 apartments, established a “St. John’s Crime Hotline”, identified numerous criminal suspects, and made numerous arrests in the complex. Ride Along Program The Richmond Police Department allows citizens to ride with an officer to gain a better understanding of the functions, duties, and responsibilities of officers. The application must be printed, filled out, signed, and sent via regular mail to the Richmond Police Department.
