Customary Units of Capacity
The capacity of a container is the volume of a container measured in liquid units. Cups, pints, quarts, and gallons are
customary units of measurement.
UNITS OF CAPACITY
1 pint = 2 cups
1 quart = 2 pints
1 gallon = 4 quarts
Metric Units of Capacity
Two metric units of capacity are milliliters and liters. A milliliter is equal to about 20 drops from an eyedropper. A water
bottle holds about 1 liter of water.

Units of Weight
The weight of an object is a measure of how heavy that object is. Ounces, pounds, and tons are units of weight.
A Laffy Taffy weighs about an ounce.
A football weighs about a pound.
UNITS OF WEIGHT
16 ounces = 1 pound (lb.)
2,000 pounds = 1 ton
A small car like a Volkswagon Beetle weighs about a ton.
