Finally, we welcome Spring and hope
that you all enjoyed the Easter long
weekend.
Chocolate Bars
We would like to thank everyone that participated in
the chocolate fundraiser this fall. Together we were
able to raise $5,266. Thanks also to the families who
supported us by giving monetary donations. The
monetary donations made up $380 of the total
amount raised. This fundraiser continues to be our
largest source of income. Many thanks to all the
parents who helped their children with the selling of
the bars as well as collecting of the money and
returning it to the school in a timely manner. Thanks
also to the parents who generously gave their time
at the school to help out with the distribution of the
boxes, collecting of unsold chocolate bars,
distribution of flyer, or counting of money.
Come network with other professionals in our
community while volunteering an evening of your
time to make a difference in the life of a child. We
are looking for parents of a variety of backgrounds
and disciplines to informally speak to students at our
second annual Career Fair to be held Thursday, May
8th. What better way to explore these careers than
together with community members. If you are
interested in being a part of this initiative, please
complete your name and contact information in the
form that will be coming home with your child.
This year we are proud to host representatives from
post-secondary institutions including Sheridan
College, Mohawk College, Trios, and University of
Toronto Mississauga Campus. They will answer
questions regarding admission requirements, tuition
fees, etc. Come out and collect the information you
need to help you and your son/daughter make
informed decisions about which post-secondary
education path is right for his/her.
Christmas Family Fun Night
Thanks to everyone who took time out of their busy
schedules to enjoy some Christmas fun. Families
that came out enjoyed an evening of decorating
gingerbreads, crafts, colouring and listening to our
very own choir sing Christmas favourites. Our Regal
initiative raised $186 for our school. Thanks to
everyone who supported this initiative.
Chinese New Year
To recognize and celebrate the cultural diversity of
our student population we celebrated Chinese New

years of OAPCE (Ontario Association of Parents in
Catholic Education). The Conference, Agm, Mass &

Anyone interested in attending please contact the

Sub Days
Volunteering
Sub days for the balance of the school year are as
follows: May 7, 21, June 4, 18.
Anyone interested in volunteering their time to
assist us in any way is encouraged to send their
name and contact information to
[email protected]. If you are looking
for ways to become more involved in your child's
education even an hour a week is enough to make a
significant difference. There is plenty to do and get
involved with either on site or behind the scenes.
Even if you can't attend the entire meeting and
would like to join us for the first half hour, we would
be delighted to have you. In keeping with Board
Policy all volunteers must have a current Criminal.
Breakfast Recipes
As part of our healthy school initiative, St.
Bernadette has been providing healthy breakfast
options to all students starting in 2014. We are also
educating the students on healthy breakfast options.
If you have a favourite breakfast/brunch recipe that
we would like to share with us, please send a copy of
it to school with your child. We will be collecting
these and publishing them into a recipe book which
we will share with all our parent community. We are
especially interested in collecting recipes which
reflect the culture diversity of our student
population. So we especially welcome any
breakfast/brunch recipes which are favorites in your
culture. Please include your name on the recipe so
we can acknowledge your contribution.
