The word phonetic, which means “representing the sounds of
speech” comes from the Greek for voice. Many modern English
words evolved from Greek or Latin root words. Getting familiar
with roots of words can boost your vocabulary, enable you to
guess at the meaning of a word, and improve your spelling.
