Using the Gospel of John for Seekers

Using
the
Gospel
of
John
for
Seekers
How
to
introduce
someone
to
Jesus?
The
gospel
of
John
is
ideal.
The
reason
John
wrote
it
is
clear,
these
[signs]
are
written
so
that
you
may
continue
to
believe
that
Jesus
is
the
Messiah,
the
Son
of
God,
...
have
life
by
the
power
of
his
name.
(John
20.31)
John
was
Jesus’
best
friend
(he’s
termed
the
one
whom
Jesus
loved).
We
can
assume
he
got
to
know
Jesus
more
deeply
than
anyone
else
during
Christ’s
ministry
years.
No
one
is
better
suited
to
tell
us
who
Jesus
is.
Preparation
for
using
John’s
Gospel
Provide
the
Seeker
with
a
gospel
of
John.
Perhaps
give
them
an
entire
Bible,
or
a
New
Testament,
but
suggest
John
to
start
with,
to
learn
his
perspective
on
Jesus
Tell
them
John
was
Jesus’
best
friend.
He
got
to
know
Jesus
more
closely
than
others.
Reading:
the
easiest
way
is
to
have
the
Seeker
read
John
and
react
to
it.
Meet
with
them
to
see
what
they’re
learning.
Answer
their
questions.
Advance
at
the
pace
they’re
comfortable
with.
Studying.
Study
the
book
of
John
together
with
them.
Option
1:
read
the
book
together,
chapter
by
chapter.
Ask,
what
do
you
learn
about
Jesus?
about
yourself?
Discuss
questions
they
might
have.
Option
2:
examine
the
seven
Signs
(miracles
Jesus
did
to
show
he
is
the
Christ).
They
include

Option
3:
study

of

4:
examine
how
