Installing the Kaltura Video Building Block
4.x for Blackboard 9.x
This document details the steps required to install and upgrade the Kaltura Video Building Block 4.x for
Blackboard 9.x.
Prerequisites

A Kaltura account (username and password).

Minimum Blackboard version 9.0.
Installation Process

Set the Kaltura Integration Setting

Set the Kaltura Mashup Tool
Set Up the Kaltura Integration Setting
To install the Kaltura Video Building Block 4.x for Blackboard 9.x
Login as admin.
Go to System Admin > Building Block > Installed Tools.
Select Upload Building Block > Upload the latest Kaltura Plugin Package.
Check Kaltura Integration and select Set Available.
Go to Kaltura Integration > Setting.
a. Enter the Kaltura Server Connection Configuration.
b. Fill in all the relevant data and submit.
c. Enter the Kaltura Video Building Block Configuration.
d. Set the configuration and submit.
Set Up the Kaltura Mashup Tool
To set the Mashup Tool
Go to System Admin > Tools and Utilities > Tools.
Select Kaltura Integration.

Set Mashup on.
Upgrading to Kaltura Video Building Block
4.x for Blackboard 9.x
Before you begin:

Create a backup of your Blackboard database.

Make a note of your Kaltura credentials (username, password).
To upgrade to the Kaltura Video Building Block 4.x for Blackboard 9.x
Login as admin and go to System admin > Building Block > Installed tools.
Select Kaltura Integration as Set Unavailable.
To upload the Kaltura Video Building Block 4.1 for Blackboard 9.x
Upload the latest Kaltura plugin package from Kaltura.
Go to System Admin > Tools and Utilities > Tools.
Check the Kaltura Integration and select Set Available.
(Optional) Reconfigure the Kaltura Video Building Block Configuration.
a. Select Set Configuration and Submit.
b. Enter Kaltura Server Connection Configuration.
c. Fill in all the relevant data and submit.
d. Enter Kaltura Video Building Block Configuration.
e. Set the configuration and submit.
Verifying the Blackboard 9.x Kaltura Version
To verify the Kaltura Version on Blackboard
Log into your Blackboard site as an administrator.
Go to System Admin > Building Blocks > Installed Tools.
Look for 'Kaltura Integration' and note the version.
