TYRES
Check that the treads are
in good condition, and
that the tyre pressure
is correct (the car
manual will indicate the
recommended level).
Tyre pressure needs to
be increased for heavy
loads, high-speed
running and long drives.
Make sure all tyres are
properly inflated and
have adequate tread
depth of >2mm, and
have a functional spare
tyre at hand.

COOLANT
Make sure your coolant
level is appropriate.
Coolant keeps the engine
temperature down,
which may be an issue
in hot, tropical climates.
A leaking or faulty car
cooling system could
lead to overheating of
the engine, especially if
you’re stuck in a traffic
jam or if the car has been
left idle for an extended
period of time.
It’s a good idea to
monitor your engine
temperature a couple of
weeks before you go on
your trip.
AIR CON GAS
Hours on the road on
a hot day without airconditioning may kill
the vacation mood. Top
up the air conditioner
freon in your car to save
yourself from discomfort.

ENGINE OIL
Few people realise that
your engine oil level goes
down through extended
driving. Make sure
that it is at its optimum
level by checking the
dipstick in your engine.
This could help prevent
overheating.
