“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” – Hebrews 13:5
Dear Parents and Guardians
1.
THOUGHTS FROM THE PRINCIPAL:
Mary had a little Lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day,
Twasn’t even in the rule.
He made the children laugh and play.
To Have a Lamb at school.
And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school;
Or even speak His Name.
Everyday got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime;
That’s in our schools today?
Let’s let The Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!
God bless
L Elskie

Can you believe that Easter is here already?? We find ourselves wondering, where did the time go?????
In celebration of Easter and true Talias Daycare tradition, we would like to please request all our parents to send Easter Eggs
Marshmallow 48’s to school, which we will use as follows:
Easter egg Hunt: 17th April 2014
For our renowned Easter Egg Hunt that we have each year in celebration of Easter. For this occasion, only marshmallow
Easter eggs are required – we do this so that each child gets the same Easter egg during the hunt!
You are welcome to start sending your Marshmallow Easter Egg contributions.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF YOUR CHILDREN AT TALIA’S DAYCARE!
THE EASTER EGG HUNTS FOR THE CHILDREN WILL TAKE PLACE ON 17th April 2014, DURING THE COURSE OF

have lots of fun. Entrance fee of R10.00 for fund raising please.
Kindly pack for your child a healthy picnic basket, blanket for lunch time. (Fish

Easter Celebrations in South Africa
South Africa celebrates Easter along with its various Easter traditions, like Easter eggs, bunnies and prayers in churches. In
South Africa, the festival falls during the school holidays. Not just kids but adults too enjoy a public holiday of two days for
the occasion
Easter in South Africa
Just like Christmas, people of South Africa celebrate Easter too with great enthusiasm. They give more importance to this
festival, which celebrates the resurrection of Lord Jesus Christ. Importance is given due to the fact that Lord sacrificed his life
for the love of his people and their good. This signifies the love of the savior. Easter in South Africa is a week long celebration.
Churches in South Africa organize prayer services for the entire week.
There is huge excitement among the people for the festival. They participate in various Easter traditions and also attend the
prayer services and the processions held during the Holy Week. Families go out for fun activities and get-togethers.
Easter traditions in South Africa
In South Africa, there may not be a commercialized Easter celebration. Other nations like Australia, Norway organize special
traditional fairs and activities like grand Easter Egg hunting fair, and decorating the eggs for the occasion, but South Africa
follows these traditions in a more subtle manner. Some of the traditions for Easter, followed by the South Africans are:
Decorating Easter Eggs
Easter parades
Grand Easter feasts with traditional recipes
Easter traditional meal of South Africa
Every country specializes in some delicacy, which is also the traditional food of that country for Easter. When it comes to
Easter, South Africa too is not left behind in producing excellent recipes for the occasion. South African special recipes for
Easter include:
Hot Cross Buns, Pickled Fish , Marshmallow Eggs, Creamed corns, Pineapple casserole, Green bean dish ,Mashed Potatoes
FYI: The egg is seen as symbolic of the grave and life renewed or resurrected by breaking out of it. The red supposedly
symbolizes the blood of Christ redeeming the world and human redemption through the blood shed in the sacrifice of the
crucifixion. The egg itself is a symbol of resurrection: while being dormant it contains a new life sealed within it.
For Orthodox Christians, the Easter egg is much more than a celebration of the ending of the fast, it is a declaration of the
Resurrection of Jesus. Traditionally, Orthodox Easter eggs are dyed red to represent the blood of Christ, shed on the Cross, and
the hard shell of the egg symbolized the sealed Tomb of Christ—the cracking of which symbolized his resurrection from the dead.
The oldest tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs
filled with confectionery such as jelly beans. These eggs are often hidden, allegedly by the Easter Bunny, for children to find on
Easter morning. Otherwise, they are generally put in a basket filled with real or artificial straw to resemble a bird's nest.
Interesting hey???
God Bless
