Adding and Subtracting Integers Mystery Riddle

Name:
_____________
1-Step Integer Equation Mystery Riddle-Honors
Instructions: Using your knowledge of solving 1-step equations and your fabulous sense of humor, create a
fun mystery riddle that requires riddle solvers to correctly solve a minimum of 10 1-step equation problems to
solve the puzzle. First choose a riddle from the pre-approved teacher riddles or you may choose your own
riddle, but Mrs. Holliday must approve it. Remember you need a minimum of 10 problems, so you may need
to include some problems that equal letters that are not actually in the answer. The variable in each 1-step
integer equation will represent a letter from the riddles answer. You must include at least 2 adding, 2
subtracting, 2 multiplication, 2 division and 2 operations of your choice, 1-step equation problems. Each
problem must include 1 negative integer. A minimum of 5 of the problems must contain integers with 2 or
more digits and 5 problems must contain a decimal or a fraction. You will record all problems, work, and
answers on the back of this paper. You must create a final draft on a piece of construction paper. The final
draft includes the written riddle, the unsolved answer with clues, the 10 problems with variables representing
letters in the solution and a decorative illustration. See the example below.
