Pi Day Activity List: Each student must select at least
FIVE activities from the following list. Each completed
activity is worth five points (unless otherwise specified).
Project is worth 25 points total; point totals can exceed
25.
1) Everyone will do this activity: Each student will be given a number of pi
and then decorate the number to be displayed in the hallway. (5 points)
2) Create a Pi Day exterior article of clothing, for example: T-shirt, a hat, pair
of socks, decorate a pair of jeans, etc. (worth 10 points)
3) Create and decorate a Pi Day card to send to a friend.
4) Create and decorate a birthday card for Albert Einstein.
5) Bring in a baked item that is related to Pi Day (anything round will work).
6) Create an edible model of the letter, 𝜋 (worth 10 points)
7) Bring in 5 recipes for a pie or dessert to share with classmates.
8) Write a 2 to 3 page paper (double spaced, size 12 font) about either the
history of Pi Day or the life of Albert Einstein. (Worth 15 points)
9) Create a display about Albert Einstein and his life (poster, Powerpoint
presentation, Prezi, etc.). (Worth 10 points)

Compose and recite/perform for the class a Pi Day song or poem.
11)
Recite the first 20 digits of pi (Must do in my presence without
assistance).
12)
Dress up like Albert Einstein for Pi Day (must wear costume
THROUGH your math class).

Find and provide proof of your birthday’s location within pi. You can
use either http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/find-you-birthday-pi/
or http://www.facade.com/legacy/amiinpi/ to find the location. (worth 1
point)

Write a story with the number values of pi dictating how long each of
your words can be; must including the first 20 values: (worth 20 points)
i.e.: 3.141592653… Eve. A girl, a child acquiesced to advise among her…
15)
Using the first 20 digits of pi, come up with rhyming words for each
value. (10 points)
16)
Make a list of 15 famous people that were born on March 14th and
list at least one contribution to society/their field for each. (I suggest using
the website http://www.thefamouspeople.com/march-14th.php and going
from there to find a contribution to society.) (worth 10 points)
17)
Create a poster/presentation about the history of pi to show to your
class. (worth 10 points)
18)
Write/find a list of 5 jokes that involve pi and/or its history.
19)
State 5 facts about pi to the tune of a nursery rhyme of your choice.
20)
Draw and decorate a picture of the pi symbol.
21)
Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Mr. Albert Einstein. (1 point)
22)
(Can be done as a group) Make a movie/short film clip about pi, its
history, and its importance. (20 points)
