Before coming to Citrus College I was a
teacher’s aide within Los Angeles
Unified School District (LAUSD) and
later served as a math tutor at East Los
Angeles College (ELAC) while studying
to earn my BS in Applied Mathematics
from UCLA. Furthermore, I worked as
an adjunct for one year in various
community colleges prior to obtaining a
full time position at Citrus
College in 2006.
MS in Applied
Mathematics
I have always been interested in teaching.
As a student at Belvedere Elementary
School, I would volunteer my time during
lunch and nutrition to help students in
kindergarten with their homework and
reading in lieu of spending my time with
recreational activities. During my junior and
senior years at Roosevelt High School, I
volunteered at Maravilla 4H – a nonprofit
organization dedicated towards keeping kids
out of gangs and street violence. We would
help the children with homework, play
games, use the computers, coordinate
projects like dissecting frogs, and we also
provided the children with snacks.

FAVORITE PLACE ON CAMPUS:

My true calling for teaching came when I met my
mentor, Rahim Faradineh. We met during my first
year at ELAC. Rahim was and is very passionate
about teaching and seeing his students succeed in
mathematics. Aside from teaching many classes,
he created ELAC’s Math Tutoring Lab in which I
became one of the many original tutors. I enjoyed
helping students in the tutoring lab and in the
classroom. With Rahim’s guidance and mentorship,
I was inspired towards a teaching career and soon
applied and was accepted to UCLA and later
CSULA. I obtained teaching jobs at CSULA, Jaime
Escalante Program at ELAC, PCC, and at Citrus –
each class was different and more enjoyable.

MARCH
2012
I ran a marathon in 2006 and would like to
run more soon. I enjoy running, cycling and
swimming. I hope to some day participate
in an Ironman competition.
FUN FACT!
I really enjoy putting jigsaw puzzles together. I bought my first puzzle when
I was in the fifth grade and the biggest puzzle I have done is a 5000 piece
Michaelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam”. Once I finish putting the puzzles together,
I frame them and place them around my house. I am constantly looking for a 10,000
or 15,000 piece puzzle for my next project!
