Bericht des Präsidenten
Das Gras wird grün und
die
ersten
Pflanzen
spriessen. Wir warten auf
den Frühling mit Sonne,
nach dem langen Winter.
Danke an Alle, die den
Präsidentenball besucht
haben. Mit Glitzer und
rotem Teppich war es ein
toller Abend. Twin City
Alpine Echo gab die Musik zum Tanz.
Ich danke der Frauengruppe, die für viele
Jahre das Bockbierfest organisierten. Danke
an die Enziangruppe, die es übernahmen
um das Bockbierfest zu erhalten. Es war
schön zu sehen, dass die Halle ausverkauft
war, mit Familie und Freunden. Die Black
3
Forest Band spielte zum Tanz. Auch die
Tanzgruppen waren ein Augenschmaus.
Das Miss Concordia Komitee hatte eine
Änderung vorgenommen, um die Miss
Concordia 2017 vorzustellen und zu krönen. Danke an Stephanie Kauntz, Miss
Juni statt. Patio Eröffnung am 6. Juni,
der 1. Cruise Abend und Patio Party.
Ich hoffe, Mutter Natur beschert uns einen
schönen Frühling, nach dem langen Winter!
Ihr Klubpräsident
Rob Kerr
The grass is once again greening and the
plants are starting to sprout which means
that spring is upon us. With the start of
spring we have been able to enjoy some
warm, sunny weather, which gives everyone a renewed sense of life and living after
experiencing months of the winter blahs.
Thank you to all the members that attended
the President’s ball. The theme of glitz and
glamour was very appropriate because the
club has incorporated this in events that the
board and groups have put on over the
many years of our existence. We rolled out
the red carpet as a way to honour and say
thank you to all that attended. The Twin
City Alpine Echo provided the entertain-
ment for the evening and kept the people
dancing until the wee hours of the morning.
The board and myself have taken the oath
and will strive to live up to our commitment
that we have made to the membership of
this club.
I would like to thank the ladies group for
hosting Bockbierfest and the crowning of
Miss Concordia for many years. Thank you
to the Enzian Schuhplattlers for stepping up
and hosting this event for 2017. It was great
to have a sold out event and after all the formalities the attendees enjoyed the sounds of
the Black Forest Band. The evening had
some changes from the previous years and
this years Miss Concordia committee also
changed the format for the choosing of our
next Miss Concordia.
Thank you to Stephanie Kauntz, Miss Concordia 2016. You were a great ambassador of
the Concordia Club and were very professional when representing the club at all the
events that you attended. I hope that the
year was all that you dreamed it would be
and we wish you well in all of your future
endeavours. Congratulations to Andreanna
Richtaritsch, who was crowned Miss Concordia 2017. Janice and I look forward to
spending the next year with you representing the Concordia Club at the many events
we are asked to attend. A special thanks
goes out to the other young ladies who were
vying for the title of Miss Concordia. Please
take this years competition as a learning
tool and come back even stronger for next
years festivities.
This year we will have some small projects
lined up to continue our continuous improvement of the Concordia club. The biggest project will be changing the lighting to
LED which will save us a great deal of
money as hydro cost continue to rise. There
4
will also be some cosmetic enhancements to
the clubs exterior.
If you are looking for a way to give back to
the club there are a few dates that we need
as many volunteers as possible. There will
be the Concordia club farm clean up on
Sunday, April 30th. The Annual club clean
up will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2017.
It would be great to see as many people as
possible on this day as many hands make
light work. This also gives us an early start
to the beautification of the club and property so that all our guests can see how proud
we are of our “home” and not only the food
and hospitality that we display. I challenge
all the groups to match or beat the representation of the Eisstock. One of the smallest
groups of this club has had the best representation of helpers for the past few years.
The choir will have their spring concert the
following day, Sunday May 7th in the main
hall. Please come out and support the choir
and also see how our conductor has pushed
our choir members to new heights.
I hope to see many of you at one of the
events listed above but if we do not connect
then maybe we will see you at:
- The Farm opening picnic and soccer tournament on June 3rd
- Patio opening on June 6th
- or at our first cruise night and patio party.
Here’s to hoping that Mother Nature will be
able to give us a more balanced forecast than
what we had to experience this winter.
Your president,
Rob Kerr

Campers
Hello Campers! Sit back in your favorite
chair around the fire and take in the fresh
air, its time enjoy the great outdoors! A busy
schedule ahead for your Concordia Club’s
camping season. After a great turnout for
our Farm clean up, the campground looks
refreshed and welcoming. It was nice to see
the hard work and participation from everyone, way to go!!
Welcome to our new Campers of this season, we are happy to have you and we are
looking forward to meeting all of you;
remember, good conversation and cold beer
is a great way to meet a neighbour! The
opening picnic and soccer tournament is on
June 3 to start things off hosted by your
Campers Committee. Register your team
today via Facebook “Concordia Campers”.
Stay tuned for all upcoming events and
updates of our donation and fundraising
goals!!! “Let’s make the farm great again!”
Thank you all for your donations and support towards the farms septic expenditures.
All investments and donations are being
excepted at the club office or with Andrew
Saur. We will be well on our way to reaching our goal by the end of the season but
still need the continued efforts off campers
to succeed! We are looking forward to this
year’s camping season; enjoying days basking in the sun after a long swim and sharing
many laughs around the fire with friends
and family before crawling into a cool sleeping bag. Happy camping everyone, “Let’s go

Spring seems to be finally here, and we generated some interest in our Group activity.
We have now 3 new members and hope,
they will make a long time commitment. We
welcome “Herman Glemser, Alfred Kuers,
and Frank Kauck” to our new membership
roster. As you will notice, even the not so
younger generation have enough spark in
them to get into the game.
A Flower-meadow; A Butterfly;
That Singing Bird; that brings you great

So to all of you, enjoy the warmer season

Our secretary Trudi is still on holidays.
There is not much more to report - other
than our last meeting was a very enjoyable
one, among caring friends, coffee and cake.
We wish to express our admiration of a very
special person:
Our Friend Emil
He lives in darkness - yet he sees
The beauty of each day.
The gentle breeze of a wind’s caress
Hefeels in a special way.
He senses every soaring bird
Their songs of joy he hears
More than many a living soul
And welcomes it with cheers.
He feels his way through unknown places
Led by his loving wife - and friend Helga;
When asked:
“How are you today my friend?”
He answers: “I’m fine and so is life!”
My eyelids I close - but for a moment
To measure his comfort zone - I’m afraid:
Instantly he senses with a smile:
“I’m great - I am just great!”

April showers bring May flowers. Our flowers are in full bloom, after a rather wet
April. May is also the month when we
think about and celebrate mothers.
Some of us are fortunate to still have our

which celebrates you.

Of all that’s cherished in my heart,
She is the one that makes life great,
She is an angel without wings,
Who makes life special with the

Im sorry for the times I caused you pain,
But after these brief storms,
My love still remains,
I love you so much,
I will love you forever,
I carry your name in my heart, forever

Bockbierfest, held on Saturday April 8,
2017, was very successful. We were pleased
to see the hall full of familiar and new faces.
Thank you to all Club members, family and
friends, and fellow dance groups who came
out to support the evening and helped make
it a huge success. We wanted to keep the traditions alive that the Ladies’ group did so
well for the past number of years, but we
did incorporate a few new features which
were well received. We offered a Mai Bockbier sampling in celebration of the spring
beer festival. We added a silent auction with
an assortment of gift baskets and gift certificates that guests so graciously bid on. Different cultural dance groups showcased their
dancing talents. Entertainment by the Black
Forest Band kept our guests dancing and
enjoying the evening longer. Thank you to
the cooking staff and servers for providing
the traditional and delicious schnitzel/sausage meal which continued to be a successful meal option.
Concordia’s Bockbierfest wouldn’t be the
same without incorporating the crowning of
Miss Concordia. Congratulations to our new
Miss - Andreanna Richtaritsch. While we
watched Denise Brown’s picture come
down (Miss – 2008), it is great to have
another member of our dance group added
to the wall. We wish Andreanna all the best
in her year as Miss. Thanks to the Miss
Committee, especially Alex Thoene, for our
partnership at this event. It proved again to
be a great complement to the event.
We are grateful for having the opportunity
to organize the event. We couldn’t have
17
done it without the commitment of our
committee co-chairs: Steve Richtaritsch and
Amanda Sokolan and all our Enzian volunteers. The success of the evening will help
us purchase new outfits for our growing
group, which is needed for our upcoming
competitions at Gaufest, in Buffalo NY in
July. Thank you for your support and contributions; it is much appreciated.

Treffpunkt
First, congratulations goes out to Andreanna
Richtaritsch on being crowned the new Miss
Concordia 2017! Wishing you an exciting
year ahead representing the Concordia Club.
As we welcome spring with a few surprise
days of snow we look forward to many
sunny days ahead and getting outside to
enjoy the nice weather.
The Treffpunkt group has been busy attending many club events including Presidents
Ball, Bockbierfest, Maskenball, etc. It is
always a great time seeing so many club
members and reveling in the hard work
each group has gone
to make these events
so memorable. From
the beautiful decorations in the main
hall to the delicious
food prepared by the
kitchen staff and
served so thoughtfully, thank you.
Our group took a
detour from the club
on Friday March
24th to Grand River
Raceway to participate in a murder
mystery dinner and
show. It was a hilarious 80’s theme with
many guests dressed
in style from the
1980’s. Afterwards
we hopped over to
the casino to try our
19
luck at the slots. Some of us were luckier
than others. (you know who you are!)
The Treffpunkt group will be celebrating
our 20th anniversary next year and plans
are being made to commemorate this milestone. If anyone is interested in becoming a
member of our social group, please contact
any one of us and we would be happy to
give you some information and welcome
you to join us at one of our events!
As always we continue to donate blood. If
you can donate, please do. Our partners in
life number is CONC010846.
Till next time,
