Onguiaahra: Thunder of Waters Sound and Light Show
The Niagara Parks Commission (NPC) is proud to present an exciting entertainment
experience, combining the power of water, sound and laser light to showcase the
beauty, mystery and magic of Niagara Falls. Queen Victoria Park will once again be the
site of a multimedia water theatre, where Niagara’s story will come to life through
characters in time, narration and an incredible choreographed laser light show
projected on a 30 by 11 metre (100 by 35 feet) water and mist screen. Onguiaahra
(ON-GEY-AIR-RAW), or Thunder of Waters, is the word used in several First Nation
languages to describe the beauty and power that is Niagara Falls. Inspired by this story,
NPC has developed an innovative new 40 minute show about Niagara Falls and how it
has been viewed and described over the years.
A cast of talented performers will share living history moments of the first time well
known legends and heroes encountered Niagara Falls. Following their performance,
you will witness over 8,700 litres (33,000 gallons) of water come to life and create a
stunning backdrop for laser lights and projection images. This engaging event will not
only thrill and excite but give you pause to reflect on what you thought of, or said when
you experienced Niagara Falls for the first time. Free nightly shows are scheduled to
take place from August 28 to September 7 starting at 8 p.m. Guests can de-bark buses
along Murray Street right at the event location. (next to Edgewaters Restaurant)
