Kay Pictures Pediatric Test Sets
Six And Three Meter Acuity Tests
This test provides 22 pictures with a choice of three or four different figures at each acuity
level. The side index identifies the picture and the acuity size. The child simply names a
selection of pictures from the flip-over book until their best achieved acuity is achieved.
Pictures are designed and graded like Snellen letters and are proven accurate to within one
line of Snellen’s acuity. Recognition books are provided to help familiarize the child with the
pictures before testing. Both the 6 meter and the 3 meter sets include the distance test book,
a near test card and three recognition booklets. 2 to 5 years old.

Single LogMAR Book Set
The single LogMAR book is suitable for testing children from about two years of age by naming
pictures or by matching which is usually possible by two and a half years. The test is designed
for use at three meters (10 feet). Optotype sizes are: 1.0 (3/30 or 10/100), 0.90 (3/24 or 10/80),
0.80 (3/19 or 10/63), 0.70 (3/15 or 10/50), 0.60 (3/12 or 10/40), 0.50 (3/9.5 or 10/32), 0.40
(3/7.5 or 10/25), 0.30 (3/6 or 10/20), 0.20 (3/4.8 or 10/16), 0.10, (3.3.8 or 10/12.5),and 0.00 (3/3
or 10/10) with a choice of three or four different pictures at each of the eleven acuity levels. A
side index allows you to choose the size and picture before flipping the page to face the child.
The acuity level is easily read from the index for recording in either LogMAR or Snellen in
meters and feet with full instructions printed inside the book. Set includes the distance test
book, a near test card, and key card. Size 9 x 9 inches (23 x 23 cm). Use with 2 to 5 years old.

3 Meter Crowded Book
This book combines the accuracy of a linear test and LogMAR sizing with the ease of naming
or matching pictures. Intended for pre-reader children. Key card can be used to prompt shy or
uncooperative children. Ideal for children 3 years to 6 years. Uses eight pictures in groups of
four. Each eye can be tested with a different arrangement of the pictures for excellent
comparison. The size index identifies the acuity size in LogMAR and Snellen. The range for
LogMAR is 1.0 to -0.1 and Snellen 10/100 to 10/8 ft. (3/30 to 3/2.4 Meters). Optotype sizes
are: 1.0 (3/30 or 10/100), 0.90 (3/24 or 10/80), 0.80 (3/19 or 10/63), 0.70 (3/15 or 10/50), 0.60

This distance chart makes school screening easy and reliable. Chart shows single figures in two
columns. Crowded sets of four figures are provided for levels 0.0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3. The back

Kay Pictures Patching Solutions
Kay Magic Patch
Magic Patches are film occluders to be applied to the child’s RX. Each layer of film reduces distance
visual acuity by 3 to 4 LogMAR sizes. You can use several layers to achieve the occlusion desired.
Simply peel the backing paper and attach to the inside surface of the lens that you wish to occlude.
Press the shiny side of the Magic Patch to the outside surface of the appropriate lens and mark the
outline of the lens onto the backing paper. Then cut out your Magic Patch shape and peel away the
backing paper. Finally, press and smooth Magic Patch firmly onto the inner lens surface. If two or
more layers are required, press these together before applying to the spectacles.

The patch can be easily removed and re-attached repeatedly. It may help to moisten the film surface
when re-using. Each package includes six 16cm x 6.5cm (6 x 2.5 inches) strips. Includes enough
material for up to 30 single layer uses.

Kay Pictures Slip-over Fun Patches
Kay Fun patches are the perfect way to make occluding successful and enjoyable for children
who wear spectacles (or are willing to wear Plano frames). With dozens of different colors and
designs made in soft material, there are bound to be many patterns that appeal to any child.
Kay Fun patches attach at the temple and nose piece and are shaped to follow the contour of
the child’s face, ensuring proper occlusion. One size fits most frames that have separate nose
pads. Patches can be hand washed and air dried. Pattern assortment
may vary.

Kay Stick-on Occluders adhere to any child’s glasses during the
exam. Let the child select among the 4 designs. Simply press the
child’s preferred design onto lens and peel off after exam. Stick-ons
do not stick to the skin or hair. They do not leave any residue on the

Rainbow Readers: Visual Motor And Perceptual Skills
These VMPS1 booklets contain a series of exercises to improve tracking and hand-eye
coordination in children who struggle with letter/word reversal, lose their place when reading or
guess or skip words. Two different levels are offered. Poor developmental eye movement or
slow reading test results indicate these exercises may be helpful.
Symbols are used to help the visual discrimination and orientation skills needed for reading.
They are graded in 12 sizes and spacing levels and divided into two booklets, according to the
severity of the tracking problem. Level 1 has larger symbols for younger children and those with
severe difficulties and Level 2 has the more challenging, smaller sizes. This provides a
comprehensive treatment for children age five years and above. Full practitioner and patient

Dominant Eye Test
It is important to know which eye is dominant in case it differs
from the dominant hand. This condition, called cross laterality,
is known to cause certain specific difficulties with reading,
writing and telling left from right.
This box simplifies determination of the child’s dominant eye.
