Tip – Trim a solid with a plane perpendicular to its edge quickly and easily. Product: HyperMesh Product Version: 12.0 0 and above Topic Objective Trim solid geometry with a plane perpendicular to its edge Topic Details It is easy to trim a solid geometry if it is in any any of the global reference frame frames. If the same solid geometry is inclined with respect to the global reference planes, its tediouss to edit/trim the same. One way is to create three nodes which make a plane of cut. If the plane along which the solid must be trimmed is perpendicular to an existing edge of the solid then it is just a matter of a click to trim the solid using the X-edge edge option in solid edit. Go to the solid edit panel trim with plane/surf and select X-edge X edge from the options. Select the solid; select the edge which is perpendicular to the plane of trim. You can see a planar manipulator created on the solid geometry on the edge selected. (i.e. clicking an edge of the solid draws a planar manipulator normal to (and centered around) that edge) © 2012 Altair, Proprietary and Confidential Pg 1 INIT |2013 | PP You can change the dimensions of the manipulator by left-clicking-and-dragging left dragging the gold handles (this allows you to avoid accidentally trimming additional parts). You can reposition the manipulator along the length of the edge by dragging the white centroid. © 2012 Altair, Proprietary and Confidential Pg 2 INIT |2013 | PP
