JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Deputy Administrator assists the Clerk/Court Administrator in administrative tasks related to Clerk’s office operations and manages all Central Staff personnel and operations. Insures prompt responsiveness to judges’ request for assistance. Is primary contact for all Central Staff inquiries from Clerk’s Office, judges and others. Reviews appellate laws to insure Court is in compliance, i.e. that Court Rules, Manuals and practices are in compliance. Recommends statutory changes. Assists in suggesting revisions of Court publications such as the Rules of the Court, IOM and Citizen’s Guide. Recommends improvements to Clerk's Office Operations, Court’s Internal Operations Manual, and Court’s web page to insure accuracy, clarity, and completeness. Partner with Judges, Clerk, IT, and Fiscal leaders to implement Court vision of total electronic filings of records, electronic voting, eliminating paper from every Court operation, and to continue creatively improving Court operations and relationships. Assists Clerk in preparing content and announcements for Court web page, media request, and press releases. Opens Court when Clerk/Court Administrator is not available. Learn Court Clerk Office operations and assist Court Clerk in administrative duties: answer myriad phone and mail inquiries from practitioners, administer oaths, update materials, etc. Other tasks as assigned by the Clerk/Court Administrator and judges. At least ten Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Has the ability to research legal authority in both paper and electronic form. Has excellent writing and communication skills. Has good organization skills. Has the ability to manage other employees. Has the ability to utilize personal computers, fax machines, scanners, office copying equipment and other office machines. Has the ability to speak, read and write English correctly and fluently. Pleasant personality, neat appearance, and good communication skills. Has the ability to follow directions given orally or written. Has the ability to work under strict time constraints. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, lift, reach and stretch in handling mail and documents. Able to speak to and hear visitors at an ordinary conversation level and to participate in telephone conversations. Can frequently lift and sort documents filed which may weigh up to thirty pounds. Can sit at a desk for long periods of time using the telephone or personal computer. Has the ability to work in an environment with a lot of activity and some noise.
