SUCCESS FOR OUR DEMOCRATS!
UPCOMING EVENTS:
The Comanche County Democrats meet Monday, October 12, 2015 at 6:00 pm. This
is our monthly meeting at the Great Plains Technology Center, 4500 SW Lee Blvd.,
Lawton, Building 100, Room 118 (the Auditorium.) Cookies, other snacks and bottled
water would be gratefully accepted. Please note that this is NOT the third Monday of the
month (when we usually meet). VoTech is closed for its fall holiday on the third Monday,
so we had to re-schedule. Help us break an attendance record! We nearly did last
month, so come share the good news of being a Democrat!

Don't forget Democrats Care Forum on Monday, October 26, 2015, from 5:30-6:30 pm
at the CCDP office at 610A SW Lee Blvd., Lawton. The Chair of this group, Phil Jones,
is a master at moderating discussion. Come, bring your issues and join us!

Congratulations on all who made the Open Streets/Fit Kids event on Friday, October 2,
2015 a resounding success! Special thanks to Glenda Stewart, who headed up the
event, got us all in blue t-shirts with donkeys on them, and recruited a wonderful team of
volunteers to run the event. Allen Page wowed the parents and kids with his
management of the pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game. Allen drew large crowds of parents
and kids with his skills and positive approach. Sharon Turner was the champion in
registering new voters, but there were others that also did well, including Terry Gresham
and more. Also, Don and Judy Nelson, Barbara Harrison, Angela and Jeff Bolds,
Tommie Price, Hershel and Sharon Turner and many others made this blue-shirt event
a delightful, roaring success.

Oklahoma Watch-Out Forum. On October 20, 6-7 pm, at Kamp's 1910 Cafe, 10 NE
10th St., OKC, OK House Speaker Jeff Hickman (R) will face off with Minority Leader
Scott Inman (D) to debate and discuss Oklahoma's challenges with the budget shortfall.
This ought to be interesting. If you're up to it, take a trip to OKC and give this a gander.

Please note that there'll be a special election to fill the seat of deceased Stanley
Haywood in Ward 7, Lawton. The City Council has appointed a temporary replacement
to hold that seat until the special election on Thursday, Feb. 9. (Why they didn't just set
this election on the regular city election date of June 28 is beyond me.)
****************************************
By the way, there are at least two new polling places in Lawton: Precinct 15's new
polling place is Salt of the Earth Church, 2209 NW 25th St. (It used to be Holy Cross
Lutheran Church.) Precinct 21's new polling place is Bethlehem Baptist Church at 6th &
Arlington. (It used to be Washington School.)
