OUR VISIT TO THE “MYTHS AND MONSTERS” EXHIBITION
On Sunday 12th February, our class visited the
exhibitions “Myths and Monsters”.
Firstly, we met our guide, who explained to us
about the origin of some of the most well-known
myths. We saw animatronics of the Himalayan
Yeti, the Greek Cyclops, the Dragon, the Unicorn,
the Alien, the Chimaera.
The Yeti looks like a giant gorilla with white fur.
The legend started with visions that people had in
the snowy mountains, which they later narrated as
terrifying stories of the huge beast.
The Chimaera is an ancient Greek monster
which had the head of a lion, the body of a goat
and the tail of a snake. This myth started from the fears of the people living on the mountains, who
tried to protect their cattle from mountain lions and themselves from snakes. The mountains were
territories with many unpleasant surprises for their inhabitants.
The Cyclops was an ancient Greek mythical monster with one eye. It was one of the great
dangers Ulysses had to face. It hunted and ate men and sheep. According to legend, Ulysses
blinded the Cyclops and freed his men and himself from the terrible fate that awaited them.
The unicorn is a horse with a horn on its forehead. The original legend describes the horse as
black, ugly and hostile towards humans, but later on it changed and it was presented as a white,
friendly creature, whose tears can heal all wounds. The
second legend lasts to this day.
The Alien is the most modern myth. People have often
wondered if there is life on other planets and since the
first space exploration, the idea of aliens has formed in
humans’ minds.
It was a FANTASTIC visit. We learned lots of things
saw life-like mythical creatures and had a great time
with our classmates and teachers. It was absolutely
great!
Aliens 'already exist on earth', Bulgarian scientists claim
Aliens from outer space are already among us on earth, say Bulgarian
government scientists who claim they are already in contact with
extraterrestrial life.
Work on deciphering a complex set of symbols sent to
them is underway, scientists from the country's Space
Research Institute said.
They claim aliens are currently answering 30 questions
posed to them.
Lachezar Filipov, deputy director of the Space
Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of
Sciences, confirmed the research.
He said the centre's researchers were analysing 150 crop circles from around the world, which
they believe answer the questions.
"Aliens are currently all around us, and are watching us all the time," Mr Filipov told Bulgarian
media.
"They are not hostile towards us, rather, they want to help us but we have not grown enough in
order to establish direct contact with them."
Mr Filipov said that even the seat of the Catholic church, the Vatican, had agreed that aliens
existed.
He said humans were not going to be able to establish contact with the extraterrestrials through
radio waves but through the power of thought.
"The human race was certainly going to have direct contact with the aliens in the next 10 to 15
years," he said.
"Extraterrestrials are critical of the people's amoral behavior referring to the humans'
interference in nature's processes."

CARNIVAL IN THE WORLD: GREECE AND AUSTRIA
1. The Carnival is the biggest carnival event in Greece. It has an 180
year history. Traditionally, it begins on January 17 and lasts until
Ash Monday. The Carnival of Patra is the most well known in
Greece and it is celebrated with dancing, parades, treasure hunts
etc. At the final weekend there is a spectacular parade of floats
and on Sunday there is the ritual burning of the Carnival King in
the pier of St Nicholas at the port of Patra.
2. The inhabitants of South Tyrol have their own particular charm, as do their festivals. At
carnival time, visitors can see some pretty strange traditions and customs being played out.
Guests on ‘Red Rooster” farms are right in the thick of the silly season, as carnival is
definitely alive and well in the countryside. For instance, the “Zussirennen” in Prad am
Stilfserjoch on Unsinnigen Donnerrstag (Carnival Thursday), where the Zussin figures, all
clad in white, drive out the winter demons with huge handcuffs and bells around them. The
highlight of Crnival in Schuffa in Welschnofen is the Mardi Gras procession at 15.03 with its
enormous demonic schnappviechem puppets. These also play a large role in the
Egetmannumzug in tramin, the biggest and strangest Carnival Event in South Tyrol. The main
character, Egetmann Hansel, is dressed up in tails and a bowler hat and sits on his wedding
carriage, closely followed by some rather weird apparitions: the wild man with his rabbit fur
mask and ivy cloak symbolising untamed nature, of the white bear, who fights the green
bear, like winter battling against the spring. On Ash Wednesday Carnival is over in South
Tyrol for one year, yet the winter carries on. At Scheibenschlagen in Mals in the Vinschgau
valley, winter is seen off on the first Sunday in lent, the Funkensonntag with glowing shards
of wood. All fans of Carnival fun are well catered for at Red Roosters farms. Cultutre and
traditions are eally kept alive here and a great time can be had driving out the winter along
with your hosts.
A HALLOWEEN STORY
Last week I went to a fancy dress party. Everyone was wearing amazing costumes.
I was dressed up as a pirate. Someone else came as Count Dracula. Another guy
came as a dog. Three other girls were angels. Everything was lovely when, suddenly,
everyone turned into something scary! The happy angels turned into scary angels. I
was the only one who remained the same. When they realized it, they all began to
run after me, trying to eat me!!!! I felt so alone and scared.. I had nowhere to go…
I screamed out “Somebody help me”…
Suddenly, I woke up.. Fortunately, I was dreaming. That was a very scary dream..

GOSSIP… JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT…
You look so grown up: Scientists age Suri Cruise, Romeo Beckham and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt
Angelina Jolie and her daughter
Shiloh seen buying flowers. She
has her mother's full lips and her
father's button nose.But Shiloh
Jolie-Pitt, five-year-old daughter of
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is
very much her own woman in this
remarkable glimpse into the
future. The images of how Shiloh and four other celebrity children
would look at 25 have been created by forensic age-progression, a
technique used to help track down 900 missing children in the United
States..Now one firm of experts, Phojoe, is offering the service at £60 a
time to parents who'd like a glimpse into their own child's future. Boss Emy Craciunescu explains: "The face grows
surprisingly proportionally. The eyes stay mostly the same and the face gets longer and widens, while the nose lengthens and
the nasal bridge gets more defined. But the basic relationship between nose and eyes doesn't change, which is why you
recognise your old classmates."He says the work takes training and experience and can't be left to a computer.A key skill is
analysing which parent a child has inherited each of their features from and Emy says most parents are shocked by the
results."But they tell us the more they look and the more time passes the more accurate they become."Now take a look at how
the firm predicts these five star kids will turn out at 25... with Emy's verdicts on the startling images.
Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, commonly referred to as Spurs, is an English football club based in
Tottenham, London, that plays in the Premier League. The club's home stadium is White Hart Lane.
Founded in 1882, Tottenham won the FA Cup for the first time in 1901, making it the only non-League club to
do so since the formation of the Football League. Tottenham was the first club in the 20th century to achieve the
League and FA Cup Double, winning both competitions in the 1960–61 season. After successfully defending the
FA Cup in 1962, in 1963 it became the first British club to win a UEFA club competition – the European Cup
Winners' Cup.[2] In 1967 it won the FA Cup for a third time in the 1960s. In the 1970s Tottenham won the League
Cup on two occasions and was the inaugural winner of the UEFA Cup in 1972, becoming the first British club to
win two different major European trophies. In the 1980s Spurs won several trophies: the FA Cup twice, FA
Community Shield and the UEFA Cup in 1984. In the 1990s the club won the FA Cup and the League Cup.
When it won the League Cup once more in 2008, it meant that it had won a major trophy in each of the last six
decades – an achievement only matched by Manchester United.
The club's Latin motto is Audere est Facere (lit: "To Dare Is to Do"), and its emblem is a cockerel standing upon a football.
The club has a long-standing rivalry with near neighbours Arsenal. Matches between the two teams are known as the North
London derby.
The club was formed in 1882, as Hotspur F.C., and played in the Southern League until 1908, when it was elected into the
Football League Second Division. Before this promotion Tottenham had won the FA Cup in 1901, making it the only nonLeague club to do so since the formation of the Football League.
Since then, Tottenham have won the FA Cup a further seven times, the Football League twice, the Football League Cup four
times, the UEFA Cup twice and also the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. The Cup Winners' Cup victory in 1963 made Tottenham
the first English team to win a UEFA competition. In 1960–61 it became the first team to complete The Double in the
Twentieth Century.
