Newsletter No 4 Friday 5h October Dear Parents This week’s talk topic will be all about Harvest Time. This will tie in with our Harvest Festival celebrations next week. Please talk about what farmers have to do at Harvest Time. KS 2 will be celebrating a French Harvest so perhaps you could discuss how different cultures celebrate Harvest Time. Mrs Reaich writes … Last Friday children in Lower Key Stage 2 were visited by a ‘Rufus the Roman’. Throughout the day the children learned lots of interesting facts about life in Roman times, they played Roman games, and took part in Boudicca’s last battle. Not only did the children add to their understanding of life in Roman times, they also had great fun. KS 1 Trip to the Arboretum This week our KS 1 classes went to the Westonbirt Arboretum. We had a lovely time learning about Autumn and the changes that happen in plant and animal life. We followed a play trail where we carried out a scavenger hunt and built some elf houses. One of the workshop activities was all about how badgers keep warm during the autumn and winter months. The children had to hide little toy badgers who had tiny hot water bottles in their tummies and keep them warm by finding a suitable hole and covering them with leaves. After an hour had passed we went back to our badgers and measured their temperatures, they were all still very warm and cosy! The children had a brilliant time and were very well behaved. Thank you very much to all the helpers who came on the trip with us. Circus Information A little bit of information regarding the circus next Wednesday. Buggy parking will be available under the canopy outside SK as buggies are not allowed in the circus tent. There will be clown face painting available in class MB. Class CH will have sweet bags for sale, red noses and glow sticks. Refreshments will be sold out of the rainbow room where we will have available tea, coffee, hot chocolate and soft drinks and we will also be selling hot dogs. We also have large lollies for sale from the lady with the basket who will be walking around. Toilets will be available at the Infant end of school – please follow the signs. Gates open from 5pm and we will also be selling all of these things during the interval (as long as we have not sold out!) – remember all profits go to the PTA to provide the extra things that make our children’s time at school great – so please help support us!!!
