JANUARY RHYMES AND SONGS
Snowflakes falling down
Snowflakes falling down,
Falling to the ground.
Big, white fluffy flakes
That do not make a sound.
(Tune: Row, row, row the boat)
Snowman
Did you know I’m made of snow,
From the top of my head to the end of my toe.
I’m as white as white, and I sparkle all night
When the moon shines bright,
I’m a wonderful sight.
I’ve a big round head and a carrot for a nose,
Buttons for my eyes and buttons for my clothes,
A scarf coloured red and a top hat for my head
When the sun shines bright, I shall melt from sight.
Mud
I like mud
I like it on my clothes,
I like it on my fingers,
I like it on my toes.
Dirt’s pretty ordinary and dust’s a dud,
For a really good mess up, I like mud.
Funny Snowman
I’m a funny snowman
Dancing in the snow,
I’ve a top hat on my head
And a carrot for my nose.
I’m a funny snowman
Dancing in the snow,
And when the sun comes out to-day
I’ll melt away, you know.
You put your mittens in
You put your mittens in,
You put your mittens out.
You put your mittens in
And you shake them all about.
You do the Snowkey Pokey
And you turn around,
That’s what it’s all about.
Oh Snowkey, Pokey, Pokey etc.
(Tune: Hokey,Pokey)
I’m a Little Snow Person
I’m a little snow person
Short and fat.
Here are my buttons
And here’s my hat.
When the snow comes out,
I cannot stay
Slowly I just melt away.
(Tune: I’m a little teapot)

Mary Had a Little Lamb
The North Wind Doth Blow
The North Wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will the robin do then,
Poor thing?
He’ll sleep in the barn,
To keep himself warm,
And hide his head under his wing,
Poor thing!
Mary had a little lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went
The lamb was sure to go.
It followed her to school one day,
That was against the rules,
It made the children laugh and play,
To see a lamb at school.
Little Jackie, Jack Frost
Jack in the Box
Little Jackie, Jack Frost bites my nose,
Little Jackie, Jack Frost stings my toes,
Little Jackie, Jack Frost climbs the trees,
Little Jackie, Jack Frost paints the leaves.
Jack in the box, still as a mouse,
Deep down inside his little dark house,
Jack in the box, resting so still,
Will you come out? YES I WILL!
Little Jackie, Jack Frost thinks its fun
Knocking all the leaves down one by one.
When the winter wind begins to blow,
Little Jackie runs away, Ho! Ho! Ho!
I saw a Little Robin
I saw a little robin going tap, tap, tap,
I said, “Little Robin, will you stop, stop, stop?”
I went to the window to say how do you do,
But he flapped his little wings and away he flew.
Five Little Snowmen Fat
Five little snowmen fat
Each had a funny hat.
The sun came out and melted one,
And that’s the end of that!
Four little snowmen fat etc.

The Mulberry Bush
I’m a Little Snowman
I’m a little snowman
White and fat,
Here’s my pipe and here’s my hat.
I’ve got buttons – one, two, three,
Will you count them all with me?
One - two - three.
I’m a little snowman
White and fat,
Don’t throw snowballs at my hat!
If you do I’ll turn around
And pick some snow up from the ground.
(Say) And throw it at you.
A Chubby Little Snowman
A chubby little snowman
Had a carrot nose,
Along came a rabbit
And what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny,
Looking for his lunch,
Ate the snowman’s carrot nose……Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!
Here we go round the Mulberry Bush,
The Mulberry Bush, the Mulberry Bush;
Here we go round the Mulberry Bush,
On a cold and frosty morning.
We stamp our feet to keep them warm,
To keep them warm, to keep them warm;
We stamp our feet to keep them warm,
On a cold and frosty morning.
Followed by:
We clap our hands to keep them warm etc.
We jump about to keep everything warm etc.
Sing a Song of Winter
Sing a song of winter.
Fog and wind and rain.
Ice and frost and snowflakes,
Falling down again.
Never mind the shivers
Jump and run and slide;
Hats and coats and gloves and scarves,
Will keep the cold outside.
(Tune: Sing a song of Sixpence)
