SCRIPTURE PASSAGE: John 14:15-16, 23-26
The condition of receiving the living Spirit of God is uncompromising: if we love and obey God, he will
make his home in us; and if we don’t we shall not even recognise his existence when we see clear
evidence. It is all too easy to get short-sighted about this. We all need regular check-ups to ensure that
we are not missing out on the chance of a spiritual lifetime – what if the God of love were to knock at
our door, and we failed to answer because we did not even notice him there?
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK: Please keep our Sick and Housebound Parishioners in your daily prayers and if
you know of anyone who is need of a visit or Holy Communion (at home or in hospital) please let Fr.
Oliver know.
PRAYER VIGIL FOR DISPLACED CHRISTIANS: Please join the parish of Our Lady & the Apostles in
Stockport (SK3 8BQ) and the Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) in a Prayer Vigil for
Displaced Christians on Thursday 19th May at 7:30pm. The vigil will last just over an hour and will give
us all the chance to learn about, reflect on and pray for all of those Christians around the world who
have been forced to flee their homes, family, friends and jobs in the face of civil war, extremist groups or
natural disaster.

TOTE: Following a review of the Tote we have decided to make some small changes to improve the
prize winning options. Currently, the prize money is £100 if there is a winner first draw, if a second draw
is needed the prize drops to £50 and if there is still not a winner the prize money drops to £25. Less
than 150 of the 300 numbers available are taken, so the chances of getting a £100 winner are less than
50%. By reducing the numbers available from 300 to 200, we can improve the chances of getting a £100
winner to over 50%. At the same time we are changing the lower prize amounts to be £75 for a winner
on the second draw and £50 for a winner on the third or subsequent draw. If you don’t already have a
Tote number, please ask at the Piety Stall. It is a £1 a week and you can pay weekly, monthly or
annually.
ST PAUL’S PARISH VESTMENTS: We have now placed an order for parish vestments, white, green, red
and purple. If you would like to contribute to the cost of these robes please put your donation in an
envelope and hand it to Fr. Oliver.
