ALL mail must be sent through the U.S. Post Office. To mail a letter to an inmate, please address it as follows: Inmate's Name (No inmate number is necessary) Kenton County Detention Center 3000 Decker Crane Lane Covington, Kentucky 41017 **YOUR full name AND full return address MUST be written on the envelope. Address labels are NOT permitted. If there is not a return address the envelope will be destroyed. MAIL RESTRICTIONS Envelopes larger than a #10 business envelope (4 1/8" x 9 1/2") will be returned to the sender. We do not accept packages. NO excessive mail Be aware that your letter will be returned to you or destroyed – NO EXCEPTIONS if it contains prohibited items. The following items are considered contraband and any envelope containing these items will be returned to the sender or destroyed with the entire contents. NO INMATE TO INMATE MAIL Tobacco of any kind, illegal substances, marijuana, rolling papers Lighters, matches or other incendiary devices Pornographic, sexual, or offensive items (drawings, printed or photographic) Violent or gang related material Books, newspapers or magazines, newspaper or magazine clippings, advertisements of any kind, nothing off the internet Construction paper, coloring book pages, puzzle book or puzzle book pages, bookmarks, or music cards Any cards with glue on them (example: glued covers, pages) NO cologne, perfume, jewelry, lipstick, crayons, markers, sparkles, glitter or glitter pens, stickers, or unidentifiable substances Use of white-out, staples, POST-IT notes, tape or other adhesive Pens, pencils, or art supplies Clothing, cash, money orders, or personal checks NO Polaroid photographs – Other photographs larger than 4"x6" or more than 6 photos Any item available for purchase through the commissary (i.e. stamped envelopes, paper, pencils, puzzle books, dictionary, personal hygiene items, snacks, etc.) Any other items deemed inappropriate by jail staff Items that are acceptable through the mail are as follows: Greeting Cards (subject to above restrictions) Letters (subject to above restrictions) Photographs (limit of 6, no larger than 4"x6") o Limit of 6 per stay/per inmate o Photos may NOT be traded/exchanged out ***Books are no longer accepted.
