District C-2
“Dollars for Doggies 2016”
Fellow Lions,
Over the past 15 years, I have been a very strong supporter of the Lions Foundation of Canada as a
District “N” Chairmen for 3 years, District “N” Director for 3 years, Chairperson of the Board for 1 year
and Past Chair for 1 year. During those 15 years with District “N”, I have personally completed 5
projects raising over $45,000.00 to sponsor 5 Dogguides for individuals with medical disabilities. These
funds were received from Lions clubs, individual Lions, company donations, the general public, raffles,
friends and personal contributions.
Lions, we have a number of individuals within the Province of Alberta that are on a waiting list for Dog
Guides in different categories. Dog Guides required for District C2 are: Autism Assistance (6), Diabetic
Alert (1), Hearing Ear (3), Canine Vision (1), Seizure Response (1) and Special Skills (1). This list includes
clients in the Airdrie, Calgary, Cochrane, High River, Lethbridge and Okotoks areas. The project that I am
asking you to support will provide funding for the sponsorships of a Diabetes Assistance Dog Guide
(8,000.00) and a Seizure Response Dog Guide (10,000.00) for 2 individuals within District C-2.
(Preferably youths in those areas)
The name of the project will be “DOLLARS for DOGGIES 2016”. How does the project work? Every
couple of years, I grow my hair and beard and raise funds to have my head and beard shaved off. This
project will require me to raise $18,000.00 through donations to complete the 2 dog guide sponsorships.
I have close to 4,000.00 collected from other sources to date. This leaves us to collect an additional
14,000.00 to make this project a success.
Fellow Lions, one part of our LCI programs deals with supporting the youth of our communities and
district. What better way to support 1 or 2 of those youth with Dog Guides that will provide them with
some freedom and independence.

This project has been approved by the District and I am asking the Lions Clubs of District C-2 to support
this very worthwhile project.
