Miami reviews applications holistically and considers all materials submitted, including
official high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores (*must come directly from the testing
agency), and one letter of recommendation (from either a teacher or guidance counselor).
As of 2015, Miami does superscore both ACT and SAT. Miami always uses a student's
weighted GPA; we do not recalculate GPA.
** Middle 50% ACT composite: 27-31 (superscored)
** Middle 50% SAT I combined score (CR+M): 1170-1350
** Middle 50% weighted GPA: 3.58-4.11
** 85% of 2016 admitted students scored a 26 or above on the ACT
For priority consideration for admission, merit scholarships and honors programs, Miami
recommends that students apply by our Early Action (non-binding) deadline of December

In fall 2014, a seven-year program was implemented. The curriculum and length of the new
program provides students’ time to explore their interests and options in the pharmacy
profession, as well as mature and develop into pharmacists prepared to not only advance
their patients’ health but also the profession of pharmacy as a whole.
A hallmark of the new curriculum is an innovative teaching model which integrates
coursework across foundational subject areas to improve learning and advance patient care.
Students will be able to identify and incorporate specialty areas into their studies to prepare
them for the wide variety of career options available for pharmacists. Offerings will include
professional elective tracts and certificate programs.
After three pre-professional years and one professional year in the program, students can

from the Carnegie Foundation.
* Top 3% in the nation for the number of African-American graduates.

• The South Carolina Honors College was again ranked number 1 in the nation in a
“Review of Fifty Public University Honors Programs”. Speaking of the Honors College,
we made significant changes to the application. The Honors application has been
condensed to two 500-1000 word essays, requiring applicants to reflect on their own
intellect as well as their goals and aspirations.
• Last fall the Moore School of Business opened its brand-new facility on Assembly
Street. This fall, the School of Journalism opened the doors to its new home, set just behind
the historic horseshoe. The nearly 55,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility is comprised

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education elevated UWM to its list of
“R1”, top-tier research institutions in 2016. Only 115 of the nation’s more than 4,600 postsecondary institutions received this designation for the caliber of research found on their
campuses.
UWM participates in the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP), and offers a $1,000
Milwaukee Advantage scholarship. Both MSEP and MAP result in discounted tuition for
Illinois residents (out of state base tuition is about $19,000; MSEP discount brings cost to
$13,500, and MAP brings annual tuition cost down to $12,500).

The Linkages program allows students to take classes at Western Illinois University and
the local community college on WIU's campus. The program is designed as an alternative
for students who say, "I want to go away to school, but I'm going to community college
first". Linkages students will live in on campus housing, attend Division I athletic events,
use all of WIU's facilities, and have their community college classes offered in their
freshmen residence halls. Because of the lower tuition and fees offered by the community
college, this program can reduce the cost of attendance by $6,000, which closes the
financial gap for many low and middle income students.
