As always, all proceeds from the sales go back to the kids to fund the party on the last night of Band Camp. This party honors our seniors and is a fun evening for the entire band. The extra proceeds go towards other expenses related to Senior Night. To keep this simple for our families and to eliminate wasted food and shortages as much as possible, we are asking for monetary donations and/or donations of nonperishable items only. We will shop each day for the perishable items. You choose which donation method works best for you. You can choose to make a $10-$15 donation and we will shop for you. Monetary donations will be accepted at the band meetings on June 24th and July 22nd. We are also asking for any and all volunteers to help prepare and serve the food during pre band camp. (July 27 – July 31) A sign-up sheet for days and times you are available to help will be posted at the band meeting on June 24th. Any time you are willing to commit to would be greatly appreciated. If you choose to send in non-perishable item(s) we ask that you donate according to the following list: SENIORS: GATORADE/POWERADE JUNIORS: INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED RICE KRISPY TREATS, SOUR PATCH KIDS, SWEDISH FISH, PLAIN M&M’S, (NO PEANUT BUTTER PRODUCTS) SOPHOMORES: INDIVIDUAL BAGS OF FRITOS, SUN CHIPS, DORITIOS, PRETZELS OR GOLDFISH FRESHMAN: CASE OF WATER (16 OZ BOTTLE SIZE), FREEZE POPS Drop off items at either the Band meeting July 22nd or Monday morning pre-band camp. A menu and price list will be posted at the meeting and sent out in advance as well. Thank you in advance for your help and pride in the Montour Spartan Marching Band! The Director’s Corner Hello everyone, Welcome to the 2015-2016 marching band season. I hope you have been enjoying your summer vacations and winding down from this past school year. Marching band practices will be coming just around the corner, and there’s a few dates to get out to you. First, drumline auditions are happening on Monday, July 6th from 6:00- 9:00 pm at the high school band room. All the information you need regarding drumline auditions can be found in the attachments of this email. IF YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR DRUMLINE, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM: http://goo.gl/forms/evuTcQMRpf Next, Before camp starts, I want to have a few rehearsals to bring us back into playing condition before pre-camp starts. These will be quick and painless practices focusing [primarily] on the music. Those practices will be MondayThursday July 20-23rd from 6:00- 8:00 pm. However, if you are a freshman, just joining band, or just REjoining band, 8:00-9:00 will be marching basics. This hour will focus on the very fundamentals of marching. It’ll be easy. Just make sure you wear sneakers! Finally, I’ve been asked where our music is. With the help of my brother-in-law, we’ve digitized all the music for this season. There’s about 20 pieces of music ranging from our show music, pre-game music, stands tunes, parade pieces, and some miscellaneous pieces that we’ll try to squeeze into the season somehow. Links and instructions to get your music will be coming shortly. Watch out for the email containing the sheet music, and continue enjoying your summer! -Mr. Householder MBPA Committee Contacts Fundraiser Chairpersons Chairpersons (current events) Script – Kim Sharkey Band Camp – Sue Janas (412) 759-1839 (Cell) Form drop-off/pick-up: 223 Grandview Email: [email protected] (412) 552-9217 (Cell) Email: [email protected] Market Day – Maggie & Nick Nazak (412) 412-491-1415 (Cell) Email: [email protected] Pre-Camp/Outback Fundraiser – Michelle Benigni Sarris Candy/ Pgh Popcorn – Rose Miller Drop-off/Pick-up: 16 Greenwood Drive, Kennedy Twp Email: [email protected] Band Festival – Co-chaired Nancy Maslakowski: [email protected] Becky Weibel: [email protected] Hoagie Sales – Co-chaired Connie Alexander: [email protected] Beth Riddell: [email protected] Form drop-off: 151 Camelot Circle, 15108 Chaperones – Nancy Maslakowski Email: : [email protected] ** Anyone with current clearances – bring copies to MBPA meeting and give to Nancy ** (412) 860-4525 (Cell) Email: [email protected] Andy’s Candies – John Rosko Drop-off/Pick-up: 7 Highland Drive, 15136 Email: [email protected] Other Chairpersons Instrumental Uniforms – Becky Weibel Pasta Dinner (NOV) – Deb McNally Squad Uniforms – Recruitment – Suzanne Bentley and Sherry Yanosick Spring Trip – Barb Cannella Band Banquet (FEB) – Jackie Mantini Gina Powell
