Term 2, Issue 3 Yarwun School Playgroup The Yarwun school playgroup will operate from 9.00 to 11.00am every second Friday. Parents/Carers are welcome to enrol their children (any age prior to school age), and must stay with children at all times. There is no cost involved for the children, but documentation for each child must be completed on the first day of attendance. All equipment for activities is provided. Next playgroup day will be Friday 12th May 9.00am11.00am. Valley Rally Facebook Page Valley Rally Committee would like to invite families to like their Facebook page. Information regarding the rally and other P&C important news is posted on this page. Cross Country Mother’s Day Stall Mother’s Day Stall will be run on Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th May from 8:00 – 9:00 pm. Prices of gifts will be published closer to the date. P&C Pie Drive As winter approaches everyone looks forward to have a hot pie for dinner. This is your opportunity to enjoy some Craig’s Bakery pies and help fund raise money for the school. Order forms are attached and must be returned by the 24th May, delivery date will be 7th June. Rally meeting, Thank you to all those wonderful parents who attended the Rally meeting. Remember if you can not attend the meeting there are lots of other ways to contribute, head to the Rally Facebook page to find out. Next meeting is on the 1st June, location to be announced. All Welcome Donation Letter P&C are requiring parents to assist in collecting donations of gifts for our upcoming Valley Rally. Donation letters are available from the school for you to hand out. STEM / Music Congratulations Julia, Jack I, Braith, Blake, Brooke, Tyson, William and Cadence who travelled to Benaraby State School to represent Coschool in the Port Curtis Cross Country our Event. All students performed to their best and displayed great sportsmanship. Well Done! NO Commonwealth Games Camp Unfortunately we will not be able to hold a Commonwealth Games Camp as part of our school camp program due to a lack of interest from students who would have qualified for this camp. As we went on camp this year our next camp will be in 2019. Athletics This term Friday afternoon’s has been allocated for students to become involved in athletics. Our school sports day will be held on 9th June and Mt. Larcom/ Ambrose/ Yarwun sports day will be held on 16th June. Tuckshop Tuckshop orders MUST be in by Thursday. Orders submitted on Friday will not be processed. SUSHI is no longer on the menu. Last Thursday afternoon our students participate in rotational groups between music and STEM activities. Miss Cuthbert instructed students in music and Mrs. Ryan involved students in STEM. STEM will involve science, technology, engineering and mathematic activities. Last week the upper grades designed and tested a variety of paper plane. Students discovered that the larger planes glided a further distance than the smaller planes due to increase surface to keep the plane up. Under 8’s Day Tuck shop menu Under 8’s Day will be held at Ambrose State School on Thursday 25th May. Students in Prep, year 1/2/3 have received permission forms, medical forms and tuckshop forms. Please ensure that these forms are returned by Wednesday17th May. Tuckshop forms will be delivered to Ambrose School on this day and no late orders will be accepted. Larcom Show Society has given us the opportunity to work in the canteen at the show. We need your help! Saturday24th June Parents/friends/staff if available are asked to donate a few hours of their time to help sell drinks, tea and coffee. This is an easy job. Entry to working persons is free and a lunch/dinner voucher is offered. A roaster will be worked out and published as soon as possible. Time of opening of canteen is approximately 7:00am until approximately 10:00pm. Mt Larcom Horse Sports Mt Larcom Horse Sports will be held on Saturday 13 May at the Mt Larcom Showgrounds. Please have your entries complete and be ready to start activities at 3pm.There will be a range of traditional and fun events. Pre-nominations are appreciated. Mother’s Day Themed Cent Sale The QCWA Ambrose Branch will host a Cent Sale with a Mother’s Day Theme, at their Hall, 36 Gentle Annie Road, Ambrose on Wednesday Morning 10th May, commencing at 10.00am. As an added Feature everyone attending is invited to Bring A Photo of Their Mother. Hoy games will be played followed by the drawing of numerous Fantastic Value Prizes with extras of a Lucky Door Prize and a Raffle. A delicious and plentiful Home Baked Morning Tea will be served and all patrons receive a “Thank You” token for coming along. The doors open at 9.00am for a 10.00am start and everyone is most welcome.
