_____________ *A professional tutor is an individual with a previously conferred degree of any post‐secondary level (Associates or Bachelors) or at least 60 hours of college credit and a minimum of 6 hours of” A” or” B” level coursework in the subject area the individual wishes to tutor. Please note that tutoring hours are subject to students’ request for tutoring. NECC cannot guarantee any tutoring services will be requested; thus this position should not be considered a primary source of income but rather a potential secondary source if need is determined and students request help. In 50-150 words, briefly state what qualities you possess that would make you a successful candidate
for an online tutoring position. (Speak to your tutoring skills, understanding of course content, and
technology experience.) Remember you will be working with students from a distance via technology.
Have you taken an online course? Briefly tell us about your experience and what is necessary to be
successful in an online course. How can you apply this experience to your tutoring? (between 50 and
150 words)
One of the most attractive features of an online course is flexibility. Students can work on their course
at any time and without having to come to campus for class. This situation also presents challenges
when providing tutoring services. While we would never expect you to be available 24/7, could you
briefly provide us with a plan for when you could typically be available to check Sakai to monitor
student interaction and discussions?
Briefly tell us about the technology/software with which you are comfortable. Do you have an
experience with the Sakai Learning Management Systems?
Please note: Successful candidates will be notified. Copies of an official college transcript will need to be submitted to
verify the information provided in this application. In the meantime, we welcome unofficial copies accompanying this
application.
