The Allegheny
Trailrunners
RACE SERIES 2013
SPONSOR GUIDE
About the Series
From the PA North Country, to the Laurel
Highlands, to the Susquehanna Valley,
Southeastern PA to the Poconos, every
region in PA has a series of trail races
except the Alleghenies. The Allegheny
Trailrunners strive to change that! With
the beauty of this outdoor scenery and
access to major metro areas with I-99,
I-80, PA Turnpike, I-70 and Route 22, we
hope to attract trailrunners far and wide.
The Dirty kiln races at
canoe Creek State park
This race with two courses will be a great introductory course for new
trail runners but will still be a greatrun for experienced competitors.
About The Dirty Kiln Trail Races:
Coming April 6th, 2013. Join us at our first trail race of
the season at the second annual Dirty Kiln Trail Races
at Canoe Creek State Park. There will be two options: a
5 mile and a half-marathon mile run. We will be starting
runners near the beach on the western side of Canoe
Creek Lake. From here we plan to take runners up and
over Mooreʼs Hill, down the other side, then across
Canoe Creek. From here runners will circumnavigate
the lakeʼs edge and back to the finish. Here, runners
can finish the race or run around the lake again (but not
necessarily the same route!) We can guarantee a
course made up of mostly winding singletrack, heart
pounding climbs, fast descents, stream crossings and
mud.
About Canoe Creek State Park:
Canoe Creek State Park is in Frankstown
Township in Blair County, Pennsylvania. It is 7
miles east of Hollidaysburg. Canoe Creek State
Park is a half mile off U.S. Route 22 near the
small town of Canoe Creek. Canoe Creek State
Park was chosen by the Pennsylvania
Department of Conservation and Natural
Resources (DCNR) and its Bureau of Parks as
one of “Twenty Must-See Pennsylvania State
Parks”.
Rock’N The Knob Trail Races
Pennsylvania’s second highest mountain is the site for one of the
region’s most exciting trail races.
Rock Nʼ The Knob will return to Blue Knob or a 5-mile and 30k (18-mile) race in Fall 2013.
About Blue Knob State Park:
Blue Knob State Park is in Kimmel, Lincoln, and Pavia townships in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
The park is named for Blue Knob, the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania at 3,146 feet. It is the
location of Blue Knob All Seasons Resort, the ski slope in Pennsylvania with the highest elevation.
Blue Knob State Park is west of Interstate 99 on Pennsylvania Route 869 near the village of Pavia.

WHAT IS
TRAIL RUnning?
Trail running is a variant on running that differs markedly from road running
and track running. Trail running generally takes place on hiking trails, most
commonly single track trails, although fire roads are not uncommon. The
trails tend to traverse varying terrain; hills, mountains, deserts, forests, and
narrow passages are common. Likewise, steep inclines or rough terrain
sometimes may require hiking or scrambling.
