Introduction
Friends of Design was founded at the end of 2006 and was up and running as a fully operational, dynamic and
successful academy of digital design by the beginning of 2007. Fuelled by her commitment to exceptionally high
training standards, Eva strove for and achieved both national and international accreditation for the company
within 1 year of opening its door to the public, by recently obtaining their international Adobe Certified Training

Centre (AATC) accreditation as well as the national MAPPP SETA accreditation.
All courseware designed and implemented by the training staff at Friends of Design, adheres to the outlines and
content provided by Adobe and thereby maintains an international standard of training. The current staff complement consists of a dynamic mix of full and part time trainers in DTP, web and new media, with a host of associated local and international freelance trainers for a variety of training contracts.
Besides being an experienced trainer in all things Adobe, and leading a team of Adobe Certified Expert (ACE &
ACI) trainers, Eva is also a qualified SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) Assessor. This means that Eva
is authorised to assess learners in the MAPPP SETA through application and assessments made against the relevant unit standards governing the qualifications of this sector of the South African economy, uplifting the skills
standards formally through a national system.
As of March 2008, Friends of Design has started operating in Gaborone, Botswana offering professional and
customised training solutions to businesses, agencies and government institutions alike.

Part time courses
Evening
We offer basic to intermediate to advanced training in web, print and motion graphics courses for
aspiring digital designers. All courses are modular and run back to back throughout the year. You
have the choice to take individual courses and you can enter the training at the start of any chosen
module or stack them to build a larger set of skills.
Courses are typically 3 to 4 weeks in duration and packed with interesting theory, software training and practical projects to get you started in your chosen direction.
In addition, all practical projects are designed specifically to add value to your personal design portfolio, an
essential tool for landing your first job in this field.
PART TIME EVENING PRINT DESIGN
Complete all four DTP Essential Skills courses, earn our part time Desktop Publishing certificate and pay a
discounted price when booking all 4 of the following modules:

designers. As with our popular evening courses, all daily courses are modular and run back to back
throughout the year. You have the choice to take individual courses and you can enter the training at
the start of any chosen module or stack them to build a larger set of skills.
Courses are typically 3 weeks in duration and packed with interesting theory, software training and practical
projects to get you started.
In addition, all practical projects are designed specifically to add value to your personal design portfolio, an essential tool for landing your first job in this field.
Complete all three Web Essential Skills courses and earn our DTP certificate, and pay a discounted price when
booking all 3 of the following modules.
All modules are trained at Level 1 (Basic to Intermediate), therefore no previous digital design experience is
required.
