FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 Lesson (title) Oxygen. Producing oxygen Subject/Topic: Man and nature Language competence level < Α1 □ Α2 □ Β1 Β2 □ C1 □ Prerequisites / requirements: Class/grade: 6th Age of students 12-13 Number of students in class: 8 Duration of lesson(s): 40 min Content of lesson: Oxygen. Substances Review of knowledge on chemical reactions, conditions and indications of their development, taking protective measures, and the corresponding terminology in Spanish language. Producing Oxygen Teaching aims/objectives Content: Ss will learn compound, combustion. about physical and chemical properties of oxygen, producing oxygen, chemical cleavage, chemical Communication:Ss will be able to describe the physical and chemical properties of oxygen, differentiate some characteristics of chemical properties of oxygen, identify different types of chemical reactions. Cognition: Ss will perform chemical experiments and will be able to describe chemical reactions in words and models, and identify chemical cleavage and chemical compound based on the quantity of raw materials and reaction products. Culture/ community/ citizenship : Ss will be able to apply knowledge on oxygen during the production of various substances in the laboratory and in everyday life. The current Lesson Plans was developed by Ms. Radost Mazganova Spanish teacher, and Ms. Yordanka Yordanova chemistry teacher 1 FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 FL/NS Lesson Planning/Template based on 4 Cs (see next page) (content, communication, cognition, culture) phase Content time Objective/ Student Competence activity („can-do“ statements) Social form/ setting Material, media, mobile lab Language: subject specific terminology Language: communicati on & interaction Teacher activity Notes, comments on processes & outcomes = including affective outcomes, (self-) evaluation ** The current Lesson Plans was developed by Ms. Radost Mazganova Spanish teacher, and Ms. Yordanka Yordanova chemistry teacher 2 FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 trigger Recalling acquired knowledge and introducin g the new subject/ topic Students will be aware of the procedures of taking protective measures, of the conditions and indications for the developmen t of a chemical reaction and will be able to describe them Students answer teacher's questions Discussi on Data sheets Taking protective measures, chemical reaction, conditions and indications of the developme nt of a chemical reaction Recordamos los términos conocidos: La ley de la conservació n de la masa; las reacciones químicas, los indicios y las condiciones para que ocurra una reacción química. Alrededor de 4/5 partes del aire de la atmósfera terrestre corresponde n al nitrógeno. Casi todo el resto del aire es oxígeno (20.9%). Participa de forma muy importante en el ciclo energético de los seres vivos. Asking questions to students in order to consolidate the acquired knowledge which will be useful in the new subject/ topic Revising in order to consolidate the topic of taking protective measures, on the conditions and indications of chemical reactions The current Lesson Plans was developed by Ms. Radost Mazganova Spanish teacher, and Ms. Yordanka Yordanova chemistry teacher 3 FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 hypothesis Introducin g new notions and formulatin g the hypothesis Students will be aware of the physical and chemical properties of oxygen, as well as the methods for producing it Students formulate a hypothesi s to be tested in the experime nt Lecture , discussi on Data sheet Chemical compound, chemical cleavage, combustion , oxides Enlaces químicos, degradació n química, combustión , óxidos. Demostrar la combustión del oxígeno. La presencia del oxígeno permite la combustión y en ausencia del oxígeno no hay combustión. Se desprende energía en forma de luz y calor. Introducing new notionschemical compound, chemical cleavage , combustion, oxides Students must be able to use the new terms in the foreign language as well as in their mother tongue The current Lesson Plans was developed by Ms. Radost Mazganova Spanish teacher, and Ms. Yordanka Yordanova chemistry teacher 4 FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 experiment ation, (processes, results) verification of hypothesis Experimen Students t, Problem are able to solving perform experiment s in order to identify the type of reaction Students perform experime nts, observe and record their findings Teamwo Worksheets rk, , mobile individu lab al work ¿Cuáles son los indicios de la presencia del oxígeno? Splitting the class into groups or assigning a project to the whole class, supervising the successful completion of the project of all students and providing the necessary assistance Students explain and analyze the outcomes of the experiments The current Lesson Plans was developed by Ms. Radost Mazganova Spanish teacher, and Ms. Yordanka Yordanova chemistry teacher 5 FL/STEM Lesson Planning/Template (chemistry) 2015/2016 conclusion Outcomes Students can proceed to the necessary summary and conclusions of the experiment performed and the problems solved They formulate conclusion s and proceed to analysis Team work, discussi on Worksheets El oxígeno es un gas incoloro (no tiene color), inodoro (no tiene olor) e insípido (no tiene sabor) que es muy reactivo y que resulta esencial para la respiración . El oxígeno es un elemento muy importante pues está en muchas cosas que nos rodean y se puede mezclar con muchos otros elementos.
