Take your exercise book and draw a bar graph. M4 Pie chart: land and water on Earth Summary 20 Most of the Earth‘s surface is water. The continents cover not much more than a quarter of the Earth's surface. M1 Continents and Oceans The Earth – the 'Blue Planet' We live on a planet of oceans. Water covers most of the Earth‘s surface. Although we give different names to the four oceans – the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian, and the Arctic Ocean – in fact these four oceans are one big ocean. M2 Water covers most of the Earth's surface The big landmasses are the continents. There are six: Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Most landmasses are north of the Equator, in the Northern Hemisphere. 4 What is larger: the total landmass or the Pacific Ocean?
