Winter Weather Procedures
Time to dig out the snow boots and prepare for another Michigan winter! Below is information
regarding area winter weather procedures.
Members of the Ottawa Area Superintendent’s Association use a sustained windchill of -20 (or
lower) as one consideration for making the decision to close schools. Other considerations are
travel conditions due to snow and ice and the time of day for which the sustained -20 windchill
temperatures are forecast and actually occur. If temperatures are dropping overnight and winds
are picking up so that wind-chill temperatures are expected to drop to -20 (or lower) after school
start times, most districts will choose to open as usual on that day if travel conditions allow.
It should be noted that conditions can vary greatly across the Ottawa area and districts face
different challenges (transportation on rural roads, number of students who walk to school, lake
effect snow, etc.) and that even neighboring districts could reach different decisions.
ZPS will post snow day cancellations online at zps.org, Facebook, and Twitter. Additionally, it
will be posted to area TV and radio stations, including TV 3, 8 and 13 and radio 99.3 FM, 92.1
FM, 1450 AM and 1300 AM. Finally, ZPS has a weather line that provides cancellation information
by simply calling 616.748.3040.
Thank you in advance for your patience during this season of uncertain weather.
In the event of a two-hour delay, please note for ZPS: No AM Preschool, No AM Young 5’s & No

QUINCY HAS AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!
We are looking forward to sharing music with our families at Quincy’s
Thanksgiving Concert on Monday, November 24th.
First through third grade students should “dress their best” for this performance. Please be sure to arrive at DeWitt Auditorium by 6:45 p.m.
Enter through the auditorium’s main doors and follow the signs. 2nd
and 3rd Grade students will be meeting in the high school choir room,
and first grade students will meet backstage. Quincy teachers will be
on hand to help students find their place. Please keep your child’s coat with you.
This will be a special evening and we hope that all students will be able to attend. To help with
planning, please let us know if your student will not be attending.
Please contact Mrs. Russell if you have any questions. [email protected]
Quincy is participating in the D&W Fresh Market and Family Fare Cash for Class program to
earn money for our school. D&W Fresh Market and Family Fare Cash for Class is tied to the
‘yes’ card. Yes card members must designate a school group to automatically credit your
school’s account. (Note: Up to 2 schools can be linked per year.) Log onto
www.myyesrewards.com to sign up or to link your card to our school .
November 23-29 is the next scheduled program event week.
Thank you!
Quincy Book Fair
We welcome parent involvement in our Book Fair beginning December 2. Please remember that all visitors
at the school during the day need to have completed their background check online. This must be done at
least 48 hours in advance. Please visit https://v2ms.zps.org to complete your background check.
PTO Thanks You!
A special thank you to everyone who jumped in and helped the PTO sort
through all the fundraiser orders. We couldn't have gotten through it all
without your help!
Thank you to all who attended parent/teacher conferences. We had
a 97% turnout. Your support is valued and appreciated as we partner with you in the education of your children. The Quincy staff
would also like to thank all of the families that made donations for
our conference dinner. It was a wonderful treat to have a delicious dinner
available.
