Start cooking: (50 minutes)
1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to boil. Add ziti
and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. In a skillet over medium heat, add oil and sauté onion for
a few minutes. Add ground beef and garlic and cook for
another a few minutes. Once browned, add marinara sauce
and let simmer for 15 minutes. Mix in the chopped basil.
3. Grease a medium baking dish (butter or cooking spray)
and begin to prepare ziti. Layer as follows: ½ the ziti,
provolone cheese, sour cream, ½ sauce and ground beef
mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese, and remaining
sauce mixture. Top with 1 TBSP of grated Parmesan cheese
and place in the oven. Bake ziti for 30 minutes, or until
cheese is melted and top is slightly browned.
4. While ziti is in the oven, make salad dressing. Mix lemon
juice, zest, honey, and drizzle 3 TBSP olive oil while whisking.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the baking
dish from oven and allow to cool for 3-5 minutes. Dress the
mixed greens with honey-lemon dressing to taste. Cut the
baked ziti, sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese and
serve with salad on the side.
