WEEK 1: Adventure Away Residential
At PGL Outdoor Education Centre in Osmington Bay, Dorset. The residential site
has its own private beach. The Water activities will take place offsite at the 2012
Olympic sailing site. Activities include abseiling, Dragon Boat Racing and high
rope activities.
Aim: To develop your team building skills. To provide an opportunity to mix with
new people. To provide new and exciting challenges and provide
opportunities for reflection.
WEEK 2: Skills at Local Residential Site
Kent teams will stay at Canterbury Christ Church University.
Sussex teams will stay at Sussex University.
University style accommodation and independent living experience. Activities
include scavenger hunts, visits from local organisations and employers, CV
building, cooking on a budget.
Aim: To inspire you. To provide opportunities for you to build you independence
and increase your sense of responsibility and of course to continue to
challenge you to undertake new experiences.
WEEK 3 AND 4 Community Project
Design & deliver a Community Project – for example re-furbish a local youth
centre, put on music gig for an awareness campaign or raise money for a local
charity.
Aim: To bring all you have learnt in the previous weeks to develop a community
and social action project. To inspire to you volunteer your time in the future in
your community to give you a sense of belonging in your community. To
achieve greatness!!
Graduation
Celebration event with all who have taken part in NCS this summer
Aim: Present and reflect with your team on what you have achieved and share
your experience with your friends and family!
