COURSE
The 5K race is open to all runners of all ages and abilities. The race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. so
participants can experience the illuminated park. The course is certified by USA Track and Field as accurately
measured. The course begins and ends at the bottom of Honor Heights Park and winds through the beautiful
Garden of Lights. The course is gently rolling with one steep climb and descent just before and after the turn
around. Net proceeds benefit Honor Heights Park and Veterans seen at Jack C Montgomery VA Medical
Center.
The Fun Run will start shortly after the 5K. This course is a loop that begins and ends at the foot of the park.
Although spectators are welcome, only registered runners will be allowed on the course.
5K TIMED RUNNERS
If you register for the 5K timed race, your bib will already have a timing chip attached. It is important that your
bib is visible and not covered by any clothing for the chip to register at the start, top of the hill and finish line
of the race. Any runner not crossing the mat at the top of the hill will be disqualified. Awards will be based on
chip time rather than gun time.
ALL RUNNERS
For your safety please spread out in the starting area. The 5K run begins @ 4:30 with the Fun Run beginning
apx. 5 minutes later. We request that all Fun Runners please stay out of the starting area until the
announcement is made to enter for the Fun Run. Strollers and pets are not allowed in the 5K run. If you are
running in the Fun Run we ask that those runners with strollers or pets start behind all other runners. All
runners must be off the course by 5:30 to allow for the Garden of Lights vehicle traffic.
BIB/RACE NUMBER PICK-UP
Race bibs and t-shirts, can be picked up on Friday, December 11th from 5-7 p.m. or on race day from 2-4 p.m.
at the Hangar at Love-Hatbox Sports Complex, 34th and Arline street (see Parking instructions). PLEASE PLAN
ON ARRIVING EARLY. LATE ARRIVALS MAY MISS THE START GUN.
LOCATION/DIRECTIONS/PARKING
The run is located at Honor Heights Park in Muskogee, OK. However, all parking is located at the Love-Hatbox
Sports Complex.
PARKING: Parking & bib/race number pick-up will be located at the Hangar at Love-Hatbox Sports Complex,
34th and Arline Street. There will be a free continuous shuttle service beginning at 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm from
the Hangar to the park for all runners and spectators. Shuttle time is approximately 7 minutes one-way.
Return shuttles will run continuously until 7:00pm. There will be no parking allowed within the Park due to
the Holiday Lights. We had over 1,500 participants in 2014 therefore off-site parking and shuttle service is
necessary. Thank you for understanding.
DIRECTIONS:
From the West: Take SH 51 East towards Muskogee. Take the Muskogee Exit from the Muskogee Turnpike
and turn south (right) on Hwy. 69. Turn west (right) on Okmulgee St. Turn south (left) on 40th St and follow
the signs.
From the North: Take Hwy. 69 South. Turn west (right) on Okmulgee St. Turn south (left) on 40th St and
follow the signs.
From the East: Take Hwy. 62 to Hwy. 69. Turn south (left) on Hwy. 69.
Turn west (right) on Okmulgee St. Turn south (left) on 40th St and follow the signs.
From the South: Take Hwy. 69 North. Once in Muskogee, turn west (left) on Okmulgee St. Turn south (left)
on 40th St and follow the signs.
GEAR CHECK
There will be a bag check located in the Garden Room adjacent to the Gift Shop if you need to check a coat or
other clothing. Please do not leave any valuables.
AWARDS FOR THE TIMED 5K
TIMED 5K – Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers. In addition, the top three male
and female finishers in each age group will receive a medal. Awards will be presented beginning at 5:45.
AGE GROUPS
8 and under, 9-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24…and so on, in five-year increments to 70+. There are no weight
divisions.
BEST HOLIDAY OUTFIT
Prizes will be presented to the best male & female holiday outfit so get creative! And keep in mind it is the
Garden of “Lights” Run. Best holiday outfit awards will follow immediately after the medal presentation.
ENTERTAINMENT & REFRESHMENTS
Post-race snacks & beverages will be provided to runners who are wearing their bib numbers on the Papilion
event lawn (only runners with visible bibs will be allowed in this area). There will also be beer for runners so
please bring your ID if you would like to partake. The park concession stand will open for snack & drink
purchases for spectators. There will be live entertainment for all runners & spectators to enjoy.

WAIVER AND RELEASE (must be signed to participate):
I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly
trained. I assume any and all risks associated with running this event including, but not limited to falls, contact with other
participants, the effects of weather and the conditions of the roads, and all such risks being known and appreciated to me.
Furthermore, I understand that I may be running in traffic; and I agree to yield to all emergency vehicles. I am fully aware that baby
strollers and wheels of any kind (except competitive wheelchairs), animals and headphones are strictly prohibited and I agree not
to have them on the course. Furthermore, I agree not to go back on to the course after finishing. I am fully aware that it is a
fraudulent act to switch race numbers with anyone or allow anyone other than myself to wear my race number and I agree not to do
this. Knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators,
or anyone else who might claim on my behalf, covenant not to sue, and waive and release and discharge any and all race sponsors,
officials, volunteers, local and state police including any and all of their agents, employees, assignees, or anyone acting on or for
their behalf from any and all claims or liability for death, personal injury, or property damage of any kind or nature whatsoever
arising out of or in the course of my participation in this event whether same be caused by negligence of fault. This release and
waiver extends to all claims of every kind or nature whatsoever, foreseen or unforeseen, known or unknown. The undersigned
grants permission to sponsors and/or agents authorized by them to use any photos, videotapes, motion pictures, or any other
record of this event for any purpose. Refunds will not be given in the event of registered participant no-shows. Signature is
required to participate. Minors accepted only with a parent or guardian signature.
