How shall we celebrate OLDER AMERICAN’S MONTH in May? How
about with PATRIOTISM, EXERCISE, SAFETY, FOOD, HEALTH
SCREENINGS, LAUGHTER & FUN?
For your enjoyment, the Mayfair Child Development children would
like to present a program exclusively for Steady for Life entitled “GOD
BLESS AMERICA”. Come at 9:00 on Friday, May 2nd and enjoy these
sweet children prior to our classes. We will meet in the auditorium.

May 15th – “REVUE OF
THE STARS” in Athens
Huntsville Hospital Mobile Unit will visit Steady for Life on Friday,
May 9th with free screenings for any or all of the following: cholesterol,
May 19-23 – Classes will
be held at Willowbrook
glucose, heart rate, blood pressure, body mass index, height & weight.
Appointments will be set from 9:30-12:00 for those who sign up.

TIPS” by Karen Hislop
Thursday, May 15th, we will depart from Mayfair at 10:00 for the
venue Yesterday’s Events in Athens, AL for a catered luncheon and
entertainment. National singer-impressionist Kevin Adams, presents
“REVUE OF THE STARS”, featuring clean comedy, costume changes,
and lots of audience participation. Kevin’s ability to perform up to 25
singing impressions in a 75 minute show, as well as his extremely
powerful vocal presentations, has captivated audiences all over the
nation. We will return to Mayfair by 2:30. Cost: $10
Our Info Bytes for Better Living topic this month is “SAFE
DRIVING TIPS”. At 1:00 on May 28th, Occupational Therapist, Karen
Hislop will discuss how OTs evaluate a person’s ability to drive safely,
how they determine what kind of training and equipment is needed for
safe driving. Your STEADY instructors will serve lunch at noon. $5
Mayfair Mile – Join us each Friday at 9:20, as we enjoy the
beautiful scenery of Spring while walking the perimeters of the Mayfair
campus. Walk a mile….or more….or less (at your own pace) and do
something nice for your heart!

Thanks to Willowbrook Baptist Church on Bailey Cove for allowing us to
use their facility for classes the week of May 19-23. There will be spray
painting happening on the exterior of the Mayfair building that week and
we want your cars to be protected. Kim will have maps showing exactly
where to go for classes on the Willowbrook campus and we will have
escorts showing you the way to the room when you arrive.
There will be no classes on Monday & Wednesday, June 9 & 11 at
Mayfair due to the entire building being used for Vacation Bible School.

Mother’s Day Trip – Saturday, May 10th. Mothers, daughters, granddaughters, aunts prepare to be
pampered and treated like a Queen! Hats & boas will be provided as you enjoy your 2-hour lunch and English
Tea Party at Hearts Desire Tea Room in the 1879 beautiful Victorian Densler House in Wilsonville, AL. There
are more surprises! See all the details on the pink flyer at the registration table. Deadline to register is May 6 th.
We will honor our Dads on Wednesday, June 11th with a Father’s Day Trip. This is for ladies and gents. We
will depart from the front of the Mayfair building at 9:00 on the Mayfair bus. The first stop is Belle Chevre
Artisan Creamery in Elkmont, AL for fondue. After a tour of the factory we will make our way to Ardmore, TN
for a buffet lunch at Fried Green Tomato Restaurant. Next stop is Hudson-Alpha in Huntsville for a tour and
insight into the latest developments in the Bio-Tech world. We will return to Mayfair by 5:00. Cost: $32
Blue Plate Broadway – Direct from NYC – Huntsville’s most exciting performing arts camp! Kim’s son,
Stephen who is an actor, writer and producer of children’s productions in NYC presents his 5th consecutive
children’s show in Huntsville. Children ages 5-15 of the Tennessee Valley come to Huntsville High School
June 9-13 to work with a staff of New York artists for a week long camp topping off the week experience with a
production performed three times on June 13 & 14. Blue Plate Broadway is taking a detour through Hollywood
this year to explore the greatest songs of cinema! See Kim for registration info if you have a

Life class members. You may choose Friday evening June 13 @ 7:00, Saturday matinee, June 14 @ 2:00

Lunch & Laughter for the Soul! June 25th @ 12:15 - Back by popular demand, we will laugh and enjoy
some of the best of Ray Stevens AND Jeanne Robertson. Bring your brown bag lunch. We will provide drinks,
popcorn and the FABULOUS delicacies of Sara Dull – her signature coconut macaroons & carrot cake cream
filled cookies. Cost: $2.00
Steady for Life presents….Fall Chicago Trip – September 28-Oct 4. Explore this sizzlin’ city with us! A
luxury motorcoach will take our group to Chicago to cruise beautiful Lake Michigan, visit the world famous
Willis Tower Observation Deck, the historic Navy Pier, explore museums and much more. Pick up a flyer and
get all the details for this 7 day trip for $589. Before we depart from Mayfair on Sunday morning, there will be a
short worship period at 7:00 led by Terry Davis for those who are interested.
