We are expecting a very large snow clearance bill both for the parish campus and the Evangelization Center, so your support is very appreciated. As had been announced, we are no longer using separate baskets for two collections. You are encouraged to place both collection envelopes in the basket at the same time, and our counters will separate them. If you do not have an envelope for the second collection, you may use the green envelopes in the pew and write “second collection” on it. Any cash which is placed in the basket will be applied towards the first collection. If you would like to receive parish envelopes (and we would be delighted that you did!), please fill out a parish registration form at the entrance to the church, send us an Email at [email protected], or call the rectory (610-872-3731) between 9am & 4pm on a weekday. In order to save some money, he started to add paint thinner. This resulted in an inadequate job. The pastor noticed when Jack was almost finished, and so the next day he slipped into the church and quietly climbed the stairs to the choir loft. Hidden, he called out, in a solemn, deep voice: “Jack! Jack!” The painter stopped doing the final touches, looked around, saw nothing, and went back to his shoddy work. The pastor called out again, “Jack! Jack!” This time, he put his brush down, and said, “Who is calling me?” “Jack, it is God who speaks to you.” The painter was startled, but he summoned his courage, got down on his knees, and replied, “What would you say to me, Lord?” The pastor responded, “Jack, I have seen what you’ve done. It is wrong to cheat a church.” Sweating, Jack responded: “Lord, I am sorry! What should I do?” Laughing to himself, the pastor called out: “Jack, you must REPAINT, AND THIN NO MORE!” FROM ST. PATRICK’S PRAYER Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in the eye that sees me, Christ in the ear that hears me. I arise today through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity, through a belief in the Threeness, through a confession of the oneness of the Creator of creation. DYNAMIC CATHOLICS CATÓLICOS DINÁMICOS Last week I spoke about what it means to be a “dynamic Catholic.” The opposite of being dynamic is to be a lethargic, fruitless, boring, unproductive, lifeless, weak or apathetic Catholic. I doubt that any of us wants to be that! A dynamic Catholic, on the other hand, is effective, compelling, influential, charismatic, aggressive and productive. I think we would be pleased to be described in this way, with the understanding that aggressive means that we are go-getters, that we don’t just wait for things to happen but that we are proactive. For my part, I would like the faith, lived out in my life, to be compelling and attractive to other people. So how do we grow in becoming dynamic Catholics? Matthew Kelly, a business consultant and Catholic author and speaker, did a study of the faithful who are actively involved in their parish, in both giving their time and their financial support. He published his findings in a book which has become a best-seller, The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic. The four common signs of dynamic Catholics are: Prayer, Study, Generosity and Evangelization. My hope is that we will all grow as individuals and as a parish in these four areas. We will focus on these in the weekend homilies during Lent, with the aim not only to inspire but to provide some practical hints. I believe that God wants us to grow as believers who pray, learn, give and share their faith. We do this not in great leaps but by incremental progress, which with God’s help makes it possible for everyone to achieve. Peace and goodness! ¡Paz y bondad! Padre Scott #
