Bridging the 18th century and the present, “Something for Everyone! Our U.S. Constitution” is
designed to stimulate nonpartisan, experiential learning. Benjamin Franklin noted the promise of
the U.S. Constitution’s durability. Attendees will examine this theme, among others, using the
text and founding principles of the Constitution. A dramatic reading by Ferrum College history
professor Michael Trochim and public speaking demonstrations by Franklin County’s
Toastmasters Club will guide participants to base their discussions in fact, not ideology.
Mr. Chuck Kirby, a public affairs instructor who specializes in guiding nonpartisan learning, will
teach the series. Mr. Kirby is Franklin County’s Chief Operations Analyst.
How to Register
Because each session builds on each other, we strongly encourage attending the entire series.
Also, to ensure familiarity with the Constitution’s text and guiding principles, we ask attendees
to read a free learning packet before Session #1. The packet includes a copy of U.S. Constitution
and several Federalist Papers.
Pre-registration required. Starting MARCH 8, registrations will be accepted at Front Desk,
Main Branch. Up to 25 registrants. Learning packet provided at registration.
