ACTIVITY OPTIONS AT PETCHARAT SCOUT RESORT
Petcharat is perfect for activity
camps. There are many activities
within the large grounds and many
more within the surrounding area.
Main activities for this camp:
1. Rock climbing at Nam Pha Pa Yai
Camp
2. Kayaking on the Pasak River
3. Cave exploration at Wat Tham
Photisat
4. Hiking at Jedkot Forest Park or
near the Wat Tham Photisat
cave system
Day 1 TEAM BUILDING ADVENTURE
RACE
Students get to know
each other and build
confidence with a
challenging but fun
“race” around the
Petcharat grounds.
The winning team is the
one that shows the best
spirit and teamwork, not
necessarily the best
individual performances
Day 2 ELEPHANTS UP CLOSE AT KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK
The morning is spent interacting with and learning about elephants at the Thai Elephants
Research and Conservation Fund centre. Students learn everything from how much
elephants eat to how to make paper from elephant dung. Find out more about the
fascinating animal that is the national symbol of Thailand.
Day 2 HIKING AT KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK
Hike with National Park Rangers
through the forest and grassland of
Khao Yai National Park.
Spot gibbons, hornbills, elephants,
crocodiles or any of the other birds and
animals that make the park
outstanding in its biodiversity.
Magnificent waterfalls, huge rainforest trees,
clear streams, and cool mountain breezes
make hiking here an unforgettable
experience.
Day 3 RIVERS AND CAVES
We study the invertebrates that
live in the crystal clear waters of
the Muak Lek river at Jed Sao Noi
Waterfall National Park to learn
how to tell if a river ecosystem is
polluted. And afterwards, this is a
perfect place for a swim!
Day 3 RIVERS AND CAVES
CAVE EXPLORATION
The Wat Tham Photisat cave system has a
variety of wet and dry caves for all weather
conditions.
An underground journey past huge
stalactite and stalagmite formations takes
you right through the mountain to the
other side.
The caves are large and have no vertical
sections, however we may get muddy.
Students wear helmets and gloves for
sections where there are bats. LED headtorches light the way.

Day 4 CLIMB AND KAYAK
Nam Pha Pa Yai climbing camp was
established by French climber Benoit
Grasser. Equipment and instruction
meet high safety standards.
Rock climbing never fails to thrill, and
provides the confidence of “I never
believed I would be able to do that!”
Day 4 CLIMB AND KAYAK
After the climb, what better way to wind down
than a zip line journey over the Pasak River?
The zip line takes off and lands at ground level –
there are no tall trees to climb.
Equipment and supervision/instruction is of a high
professional standard.
Day 4 CLIMB AND KAYAK
Kayak journey on the Pasak river.
This placid but swift flowing river has
carved its way through the limestone
mountains of Saraburi province.
The river’s wild and forested banks
are home to a fantastic variety of bird
life; kingfishers, herons, eagles and
ospreys are all regularly seen.
AT PETCHARAT
Children work together to cook a meal
with our evening barbecue activity.
We can go for a night hike and see the
stars in an area free from light pollution,
and experience the sounds, sensations,
and smells of the night.
Quizzes, movies and games keep
children productively occupied until bed
time.
The catering staff provide nutritious,
children-friendly meals and can cater
for vegetarians and special diets.
Safety
SAFETY IS OUR FIRST CONCERN
•
All activities are risk assessed, tried and tested.
•
Expert Park Rangers lead walks within the National Park.
•
Advice is always taken on walking conditions and animal activity. We will change the
route if there is any doubt about safety.
•
Rock climbing is managed by the experienced and well trained staff at Nam Pha Pa Yai
Camp. Their methods and equipment are regularly checked by us.
•
We use the Pasak river for kayaking. There are no rapids and buoyancy aids are worn by
all. Additional rescue personnel accompany the group in case of problems.
•
All our staff are trained in first aid and a first aid kit is always carried.
•
We carry adequate amounts of drinking water and stop regularly for food and water
breaks.
•
We provide helmets and torches for cave activities and will use dry caves in wet or
changeable weather.
•
We use the same drivers for every camp and will provide air-conditioned vans with trusted
drivers experienced in transporting school groups.
•
We will set an appropriate challenge for your children and will help them succeed.
