COUNTRY VIEW FEBRUARY 2017 PAGE 2 DIETARY DITTIES BY SARA STROUTH DIETARY MANAGER February is generally known as the month of Love, as far as us food lovers, it is the national month of cherry, grapefruit, hot breakfast, macadamia nut, snack food, and February 19-25 is National Pancake Week!! I think we have the hot breakfast and snack foods covered; but maybe we should be working on the cherries, grapefruit, and macadamia nuts. What are your thoughts? We can try having more cherry flavored treats and drinks, as well as grapefruit! White chocolate – macadamia nut cookies are yummy and I know most of us love pan- cakes!! I think we should have pancakes at the Friday morning activity on February 24. As I look over the food holidays for February, I see some goodies such as carrot cake, homemade soup, cream cheese brownies, sticky buns, margarita day, and Kahlua day!! These are just some of the events that should bring fun ideas to our meals and snacks!! It’s my understanding that the residents have planned a great Valentine’s Day Party Menu; I’m sure we will LOVE it!! In all the excitement that February will bring, I do have some bad news. With great sadness, I have to inform you of Emily Kruger’s departure. She has been with us since last spring, juggling her work here and college. She has been offered a position that is geared towards her business career choice, so we have to accept that she is moving on and wish her much success!! We will MISS you Emily!!! I wish you all a February with love and happiness (and hopefully warm weather!!); I hope to see you all with a full belly and a satisfied smile!! But we need to take it in stride and time will tell. Changes that others have talked about, but I would like to address. Brenda Wassman RN is our new Director of Nursing, please feel free to visit with her and if you have questions or concerns please talk to Brenda or myself so we can address concerns. We also had to fill Brenda’s’ previous positon of MDS coordinator, Social Services and care Plans and have split duties for this position with Liz Lovan, RN and Darby Dickmann, LPN. Although none of these young ladies are new to Country View Manor they have taken on different roles here at CVM. I encourage you to visit with any or all of them, whether it be just visit or to address concerns. Just a reminder that we are willing to assist with changes of payment sources if you need assistance. Switching from Private to Medicaid/Title XIX can be overwhelming and is important to do so in a timely manner. There is criteria that must be met and in a timely fashion or could cause financial trauma. I would be willing to visit with you and set up a plan to make a financial transition a smooth transition.
