ABOUT PLAY MATTA™ ORIGINAL
Play Matta™ Original is a two-layered system of durable modular tiles over impact
absorbing shock pads. A choice of shock pad thicknesses caters for a range of
playground equipment heights and gives superior results for impact reduction – the
A+B shock pad system achieves critical fall height compliance of 4.5 metres(15 feet).
Independent testing and certification confirms Play Matta™ Original’s compliance with all
New Zealand Playground Safety Surfacing Standards. And every aspect of Play Matta™
Original’s manufacture and installation is covered by ISO certified quality assurance
procedures.
Almost any existing hard, stable surface can be covered by the Play Matta™ Original
System, or it can be installed over a prepared base. Even on sloping play areas –
including gentle contours – Play Matta™ Original is the ideal surfacing. It can be certified
as fully compliant and ready for use the moment installation is complete, providing
children with the safest playing surface and the best impact protection available.
The Play Matta™ Original System is self-draining and has a slip resistant surface for
superior traction in wet and dry conditions. It meets all accessibility standards, including
the United States’ exacting ADA requirements. Minimal maintenance is needed –
sweeping, hosing or vacuuming to prevent debris build-up is all that’s required to ensure
many years of trouble-free service.

1. The existing or prepared hard surface (such as
concrete or compacted earth) is covered with
selected Play Matta™ shock pads.
2. A fine underlay barrier (geotextile fabric) is added to
prevent weeds or dust coming through the mats.
3. Finally Play Matta™ Original tiles are laid, fixed
in place and finished with safety ramp edging (or U
channel) if required. The joins between tiles are welded
or glued to ensure the installation remains secure.
