collection.
Today the world is a very colorful place because of two
very clever inventors.
If all the crayons that have been made since 1903 were laid
end to end, they would circle the earth four times.
The chemists discovered that they could develop safe, wax
crayons of high quality by adding artificial dyes to the wax.
He convinced his brothers to give him a pack mule and a load
of trade goods, then headed north to the Oregon Territory.
Then Aaron Meier came over the pass, leading his mule
down through the canyon. Children ran to tell their parents a
peddler had arrived.
His travels took him to a remote Oregon settlement called
Pass Creek Canyon, a canyon so isolated from any source of
manufactured goods that the settlers there were down to their
last darning needle.
Aaron Meier roamed the mountains and valleys of
northern California and southern Oregon for the next two
years, braving all kinds of dangers to bring
manufactured goods to mining camps and farming
communities.
