EN GINEERED C EMENTING S OLUTIONS DART CATCHER TOOL Blackhawk’s Dart Catcher Tool provides indication of the exact location of downhole fluids during inner‐string cement jobs, cementing squeezes, or balanced cement plugs for temporary/permanent well abandonment or sidetrack operations. The proprietary dart design thoroughly wipes the ID of the cementing string and maintains separation of wellbore fluids as they are pumped down hole. FEATURES Proprietary ball seat design provides a pressure spike at the surface when each dart lands in the tool, providing exact depth and displacement location Receptacle below ball seat can catch up to 4 darts, which are retrieved with the tool on surface Full‐fluid bypass after darts have landed; flow area over 5.4 in2 when fully loaded with darts Allows both forward and reverse flow through the tool with or without darts captured Proprietary darts can be configured to wipe many combinations of strings, depending on drill pipe tube and tool joint ID Can also catch “Nerf” type and rubber wiping balls Secondary bypass to ensure full cement/mud displacement VALUE Efficient inner‐string cementing of large diameter casing strings saves valuable rig time and eliminates risks associated with SSR plug sets Fluid separation and dart indication allows for improves accuracy in squeeze cementing operations, which results in saving money Improved quality in setting balanced cement plugs for temporary or permanent well abandonment mitigates the need for costly and hazardous remedial efforts Improved precision in setting balanced plugs for sidetracking Blackhawk Specialty Tools 11936 Brittmoore Park Dr. Houston, TX 77041 USA +1(713)466‐4200 www.BlackhawkST.com TSB-30002-B 1 © 2013 Blackhawk Specialty Tools, LLC EN GINEERED C EMENTING S OLUTIONS SPECIFICATIONS Dart Catcher Tool Maximum Tensile Yield 1,100,000 lbs (SF 1.5) Maximum Working Pressure 10,000 psi Maximim Torque Through Tool 30,700 ft‐lb Overall Length 160 in Maximum Tool OD 7.25 in Indication Pressure 1,500 psi, 2000 psi Secondary Release Pressure 5,000 psi Minimum Bypass Flow Area 5.4 in2 Dart Maximum Rigid OD 2.50 in 6.25 in 5.34 in 5 in Dart Fin Sizes 4.50 in 4.25 in 4.13 in 3.71 in 4‐1/2" IF (NC‐50) Box x Pin, 6.625” OD, 3.25” ID, 120 ksi yield Connections Blackhawk Specialty Tools 11936 Brittmoore Park Dr. Houston, TX 77041 USA +1(713)466‐4200 www.BlackhawkST.com TSB-30002-B 2 © 2013 Blackhawk Specialty Tools, LLC EN GINEERED C EMENTING S OLUTIONS SPECIFICATIONS 4‐1/2” IF (NC50) Box x Pin Connections 7.25” Maximum OD 159.75” Overall Length 155.25” Make‐up Length 10,000 PSI Working Pressure Dart Cage can contain 4 darts 5.9 sq. in. Specific ID was chosen because it was consistently around 2,200psi. Shear Screw Component Testing o Brass screws were shear tested with consistent results. 16 screws shear at 5,600psi Static Pressure Test 15k psi o The Dart Catcher tool was pressure tested to 15,000psi and held for 15 minutes. Magnetic Particle Inspection was performed on the pressure containing components after the test, and there were no indications. Mud Flow Test o The dart catcher tool was flow tested, in the forward direction for a total of 24 hours. The first 15 hours were at a rate of about 9‐1/2 bpm and about 13‐1/2 bpm for the remaining 9 hours. The mud flowed in the reverse direction at about 10 bpm for 6 hours. Only coating wear was detected. There were no adverse effects, to the seat, due to mud flow. Mud Flow Test with Darts o After 4 darts were caught in the dart catcher tool, mud was flowed at 10 bpm in both directions for 4 hours. After reverse flow, the top dart had moved up in the cage, but did not affect the fluid flow. Secondary Release Shear Screw Test o The ball seat was replaced be a solid slug and pressured up. The secondary release was consistent with component testing. Full Tool Dart Pump Through Test o Numerous darts were pumped into the dart catcher tool. Ball Seat 20 Times Component Testing o A brass ball was pumped through 1 ball seat 20 times with consistent pressures.
